*editing in some esoteric quotes

The Teacher of today will draw afresh from the timeless spring of truth and he will fill a new cup fashioned by the need of the new world age. Whoso has the heart to lift the cup to his burning lips will be healed and, then only, live. Great Teachers inspire and transform their devotees by the influence of their living presence.

A wise man [Seneca] once said, "As often as I have been among men, I have returned home a lesser man." It is easier to keep silence altogether than not to talk more than we should. It is easier to remain quietly at home than to keep due watch over ourselves in public. Therefore, whoever is resolved to live an inward and spiritual life must, with Jesus, withdraw from the crowd.

It is upon the serene and placid surface of the unruffled mind that the visions gathered from the invisible find a representation in the visible world. Otherwise you would vainly seek those visions, those flashes of sudden light which have already helped to solve so many of the minor problems and which alone can bring the truth before the eye of the soul. It is with jealous care that we have to guard our mind-plane from all the adverse influences which daily arise in our passage through earth-life.

Spiritual Man is both the import and the highest degree of creation. As soon as Man was created, everything was complete, including the Upper and Lower worlds, for everything is comprised in Man. He unites in Himself all the forms.

Do what you feel like doing. Don't bully
yourself. Violence will make you hard
and rigid. Do not fight with what you
take to be obstacles on your way. Just
be interested in them, watch them,
observe, enquire. Let anything happen -
good or bad. But don't let yourself be
submerged by what happens.

When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.

Reason is powerless in the expression of Love.

`Who are you?' said the Caterpillar. This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'

"I struggle with the notion of having to "earn" my place in this world, having to give back as much as I possibly can as my way of showing gratitude for all of the blessings in my life. While I believe it is important to share one's good fortune in large ways and small to the best of one's ability, I also think we need to take time now and then - or perhaps carry some small part of this everywhere we go every single day - to recognize our place in the world does not have to be "earned". The fact of our existence does not require us to do anything, really, and one of the most profound ways we can show our gratitude is to simply be in each moment. Be. In. Each. Moment."

"There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll

Everyone praises those virtues which they seem to possess in themselves
and finds a way to criticize those which they clearly do not possess;
cool hearts sing the praises of independence
and gushing hearts praise affection before all things;
the silent praise silence,
the expressive praise expression;
the meek praise meekness,
the bold praise boldness;
the sensitive praise sensitivity,
the rugged praise ruggedness;
the reflective praise reflection,
the active praise action;
the original praise originality,
the consistent praise consistency;
the selfless praise self-sacrifice,
individualists praise self-possession;... and so on.
Meanwhile, the complete person praises all of these,
and wisely observes the appointed season for each.

And, while those who lack the power to reason,
and must find a way to truth through intuition,
will tell you that reason is a dead end,
and only intuition lights the highest paths, -
those lacking intuitive power,
but well-armed with reason,
will reason their way to the heights,
and remark only upon the pitfalls of following intuition.

Again,
to the wise all things have their uses,
and nothing is without merit.

- Valerian (aka HSC)
