How do you eat yours??????I recently decided to only eat organic food. 1 in 3 people die of cancer here in the UK I really do feel that we spray way to many chemicals on our food - which cannot be good Oh and don't even get me started on the GM crops. (Genetically Modified) - how totally unnatural is that Anyway back to bananas... So in my organic quest - I now get an organic fruit and vegetable delivery every week. It's kind of cool....as you don't know what you are going to get (unless you check on their website where they tell you weekly)as they deliver things that are currently in season......but I guess my Uranus singleton likes the surprise Anyway....I struggle with bananas...always the fruit I end up with.....(they don't juice) So this week...guess what......the mangos where apparently not good enough....so with a very nice apology they said they had sent me extra...........YES you guessed it...BANANAS...... So it's banana soup, followed by roast banana, then banana fritters..... - ok so I'm exagerating. IP: Logged |

I like bananas with cinnamon did you know if you gently squeeze them they divide into three naturally? I'm with you about the chemicals- I doubt America is any better ------------------ Food is the only art that nourishes! IP: Logged |

Hey Cat That seems like a really cool delivery to get. What a great idea, thanks for sharing that. As for bananas, I really like them alot! I usually make protien shakes with them and mix frozen fruit in with them and almond milk. I also like ice, peanut butter, bananas and a little soy or almond milk.... really decadent, but great power shake. IP: Logged |

Hi Hopeful Ooo yes please - I do love banana bread and used to have a great recipe from when I lived in the States....seem to have lost it though, so if you have time I would really love to have your recipe. The organic delivery - yes I love it. Here in London I use.... http://www.abel-cole.co.uk/index.html They deliver throughout the UK and are excellent. You can also get organic meat, chicken etc delivered. Actually I find doing this, I spend less on food - as I don't need to go food shopping so often - which then stops me from over buying and ending up throwing things away (which I always feel so guilty about when I do that!) I'll do a search on google for you to see if I can find something similar in the USA. Sue

Not sure exactly which area you live in re deliveries but here are a few links I've found.. http://www.torontoorganics.com/newsletter.asp?a=20 Hmm actually here's the link to the google search I did...it gives a lot of sites.... (I search for organic vegetable deliveries in America) http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=organic+vegetable+deliveries+in+America With Abel & Cole (that I use) you just set it up as a weekly order so it's not that you have to keep looking at what to order each week. Which makes it very easy and every Friday I get my food delivered to my door Obviously you can add extra items should you want to at any time, or cancel at any time. Hope those help. Lucky me cuz my mom-in-law is our local produce lady & she can order me any I like (some is cost prohibiting tho ) so I can get most produce organic. Being farm country, organic fowl ect is easy to aquire too. I need to be more carefull of the things I eat tho. Since I quit smoking, all food is fair game & I`ve eat any thats in sight. juniperb IP: Logged |

Here it is - a phenomenal banana bread recipe...if I do say so mys-ELF! Banana Bread 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon each salt and soda 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 3) 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted and cooled Optional: 1 cup pecans or walnuts Optional: 1/2 to 1 cup milk chocolate morsels and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla In a bowl, stir together flour, salt and soda; set aside. In another bowl, combine bananas and sugar; stir well. Then add egg and butter and stir to blend. Pour liquid ingredients into dry ingredients and mix just until moistened. Pour batter in a greased 8 1/2 by 4 1/2 inch loaf pan. Bake in a 325 degree F oven for about 55 to 60 minutes. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes then turn onto a rack to cool completely. Makes 1 loaf. Note: the banana taste will be stronger the riper the bananas. Hopeful IP: Logged |

oooh - I'll definitely be checking back in to see how it turns out. Did you put everything in? I can't decide how I like it best...fresh out of the oven when the chocolate is hot and gooey or...after it sits a day and the banana flavor gets stronger. So, I eat half right away and half the next day...or almost half! Hopeful IP: Logged |

This reminds me of a recipe I learned in 4th grade for something called banana boats. scoop out the banana and mix it with whipped cream or cool whip or whatever. then put it back into the banana peel (hence the "boat" part) and sprinkle with chopped nuts and cherries. i don't really like cherries, so i never used them. but otherwise, as a kid i thought it was cool. also, the george foreman grill book has a recipe that calls for cooking bananas with a little honey (like carmelized bananas).
