Does anyone know the story/meaning behind a Tibetan "Yab Yum" ? I saw this tiny bronze Tibetan Bubba (Yab Yum) in a shop last week and bought it as I really liked it. The girl in the shop was unsure of it's meaning. Sue IP: Logged |

Cat, There seems to be three yab yums. All three are beautiful (pic from Sisters link). I love The Eternal Thunderbolt; which one did you get? Are you quite familiar with Buddhism or was this a serendipitous find ment for you to have? juniperb IP: Logged |

Hi Juniperb I don't know too much about Buddhism but I do feel drawn to it - can't really explain why but I would like to find out more about it. Maybe it's my need for peace and I associate that with Buddism. The Yab Yum I bought was probably very much a serendipitous find ment for me to have. I went to the post office to buy a TV license and just noticed this shop - I must have passed it numerous times before but never really paid much attention to it. Anyway, I'm currently "overseeing" some refurbishment of an appartment for a very old friend - he lives in the North of England but has bought an appartment here in London. Anyway he mentioned sometime ago that he would like to buy a Budda for this appartment - which is what initially triggered my thought to go into this shop - to see if they had anything he make like. They had nothing that he would want but I saw this Yab Yum and I knew I just had to have it. It's very similar to the first picture from Melissa's link but doesn't have as many arms - it's kind of like a Mother with her baby if that makes sense? I don't have a scanner so I can't post a pic of it. Sue
