Wow, indeed. Read through it three times. Very impressive proxieme. It's obviousely such a personal story, yet so much seems familiar. Don't quite know what to say. How fiting that, being a pisces fish, your moment of enlightenment would come while in the hands of Neptune. IP: Logged |

aaaahhhhhhh catechism....I could tell you, but then....you know.......hahahhaYes, lots of rote memorization.....or brainwashing, call it what you will, for all organized religion is brainwashing.....when i was a wee child, we would go to the rectory (i think thats the name for the priests house) and watch colorful slide shows and learn parables...eating popsicles and being told that women are the source of all evil in the world are tandem in my memories....fun, eh? We were constantly being prepared for whatever arcane (no, no its not pagan at all, YEAH RIGHT) Catholic rituals were due at the age we were at..Reconciliation, FIrst Communion were the little girls wear frilly white gowns and veils like minature brides of Christ....ironic, I forgot my candle at my First Communion and was the only child to stand in front of the congregation without a lit candle. Looking back that seems apropos- my light is not within the confines of this Church....one of many public disgraces within the eye of Big Mean Daddy God, the Holy White Dude in the Sky.....hehehhe. What sticks out the most is one boy who every week would get the nun talking about how Moses made water come out of rocks. He insisted that it was impossible....enter, the constant indoctrination of "FAITH." Thats when I stopped going, mostly because after my folks divorced, I didn't have my father around to force me to. I refused to participate in Confirmation, which is where you take on your role as a member of the Church as an adult, relieving the godparents you get at Baptism of the duty. I would imagine I am damned, now in the eyes of the Vatican. Bummer. It doesnt really phase me. I was already damned according to their doctrine simply by being a female. Now, I just feel pity for those who suffer the throes of guilt that Catholicism seems to recquire of its followers. I believe anyone with true faith, regardless of what sect, is a good person. I don't hate Catholics, or anyone of any faith. It just doesnt work for me. Whew, sorry, got a bit long winded here..... MK IP: Logged |

So there is brainwashing! I knew it! I knew it! Dear God, do they really say that about woman, MK? How very, very sad. I don't hate Catholics either. I must admit though, I think of the religion as a bit of a spiritual straightjacket. Confining. But some souls need that and theoreticaly I can accept it but....past life stuff I haven't gotten over yet I suppose. Not that the Protestants didn't cause their share of misery but they offered an alternative to the monopoly the Catholics held in Europe for so long. I don't really think of myself as an Episcopalian anymore in terms of what I believe in spiritually. It's a family, tradition, it's in my blood sort of thing now. And historical too. I feel sort of safe and protected in a Protestant church. They stood up to the Big , Bad Wolf and I still love them for it. Do you follow any established path now? Or are you just winging it?I love your story about the candle! A little spiritual truth made manifest. Thanks for the insider info. IP: Logged |

I was a Catholic girl. My daughter is going through Catichism right now. It's just a class that teaches our faith. It uses ancient symbols and rituals to subconcsiously give your spirit what it needs. The Catholics have many rituals that are there for the sheep to follow. You are getting your medicine, you just don't know what kind. Believe me, I am not a happy Catholic, and have lost respect for the whole priesthood at this moment of time. I had a great talk yesterday with an 80 year old man. He had been in the seminar for 9 years to become a priest, but left when he laid eyes on his wife. He said he understands how these priest did what they did. They are sent to the school at 17 or 18,"before the sap rises to the top of the tree", and indocturinated that women were evil for the next 9 years. "Well by then your sap has made it to the top and you think women are evil, so boys are the next step. They are coaches and teachers in all boys schools, and are sexually stunted in the 17 year old mindframe" So they are aroused by them and also tell the boys they will "absolve them of this sin, so they think its OK". He was the greatest man to talk to. He also believed that Mary was Jesus's wife, and that it was Peter who fought with her for power after the resurection. "He denied Christ 3 times for God's sake" He thought it was a power struggle from the beginning. ------------------ Peace and Love L.V.X. Annie Tesla is back!! Check out their new CD!! "you are getting your medicine, you just don't know what kind." Annie Kuzma, you win the prize! Perfectly sums up mass religious movements.Amazing how the older generations can cut through the crap, isn't it? That 80 year old man is so right. I can almost feel bad for these priests. Their natural sexuality has been so twisted and broken. I completely agree with the Mary/Peter power struggle theory. I think there was a power struggle between Peter and Paul too. I believe John was above the fray. But don't get me started... tink IP: Logged |

I was raised Catholic ... part of it sooo inspired me and I still recall the good feelings I had sometimes when I went to Church ... I even had hopes of being a nun when I was little. (Then I started thinking for myself.) Is that what they were teaching the boys, then, when our catechism class was separated? Here we were (the girls) coloring pictures of Jesus and the furry creatures, lol! Meanwhile, the boys are being taught about our inherent evil? I never asked any Catholic boys what they were learning since I figured they'd be coloring, too. Ah, the joys of innocence. Ironically enough, my first introduction into the occult "movement", ie occult books, tarot cards, runes, etc. (though there was always "strange" activity around me as a kid) came just around the time that I was due to go through with my first communion. I didn't go through with it, and even though it seemed like an easy intuitive choice at the time, I am so glad that I didn't now that I look back. Oh yeah, MK, don't feel bad about not having your candle, lol, I got struck on the head with a censor by accident and I took that as a sign even then. Not to mention how I argued with the priest about the whole "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" thing and was sent out of the Church for it(I must've been around 5 years old, lol) although I must admit I reacted, well, like a 5 year old. He wasn't being mean though, I don't think, he was just in shock that I had not only been paying attention but that I had some seemingly freakish insight into the matter at that "age".I really do believe that Mary was Jesus' wife. There are lots of reasons why I feel this way, but you guys have covered some of them pretty well, so I won't get into it. Hoorah for the Goddess and her God! I have been meaning to read this book, The Da Vinci Code, for a while now and, surprisingly enough, had it recommended to me again just this weekend. I guess it's time for a trip to the library IP: Logged |

Catholic Religion to me is like our government. It's not perfect, but it's all I know. My husband was also raised Catholic, so he wants the children to at least learn the prayers and belief in Christ. My problem isn't the Mass, it's the idea that the priest are supposed to be superior and god-like to us. I tried all my life to feel that way and never did. My daddy said to keep it simple, to go to honor God, and now let the people(priest ,nuns, and congregation) get in the way. He lived it also, seeing that right before he died, he finally told us the reason he beat up the Priest, and was then beat himself and put in the hospital by his own father.

I do not generally read fiction, but this is a good book - full of facts. I am about half way through it now. I was wondering if anyone noticed the "coded" message that is in the text of the book's jacket. I pointed it out to someone who read the book and she said it made some sort of sense out of the end of the book. I have not yet heard anyone mention it. ~~kinda proud of myself for noticing!~~ I recognized the "message" as a spin on a Masonic saying, but do not yet know what it means in the context of the book (although I have an idea). Cannot wait to find out! IP: Logged |
