For those who believe, no explanation is necessary. For those who do not, none will suffice. ~ Dunninger I am a HUGE fan of David Blaine. I own his DVD and just love him. I just got his book, "Mysterious Stranger A Book of Magic" and I cannot put it down. It is really good and interesting. He shares with you how to do some magic tricks, illusions, and some examples of physics. He tells you about magic in ancient times. He even has clues in his book which will lead you to a treasure somewhere in the U.S. and the prize is $100,000. from the book; My Dream Manifesto

Isn't that the guy that a whole SouthPark episode was based on about cults?I don't know who he is but that episode was very funny ------------------ you gave me strength, you pushed the blades away from me...oh how we dreamt to change the world... and we would never give in, no matter what they say... a really cool connection in a cruel world... My co-workers mentioned something about that. There's some picture clips in the book and he describes "when Southpark made fun of me". I've never seen Southpark. IP: Logged |

You know you're a star when South Park makes fun of you. He's in good company; they did Mel Gibson a while back. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." I just saw the Mel Gibson one last week. MAN! I love SouthPark but I don't know how they get away with some of the stuff they do.Of course the best episode ever was with Robert Smith defeating evil mega Streisand. But I am way off topic now. I'll go see what David Blaine is really about. ------------------ you gave me strength, you pushed the blades away from me...oh how we dreamt to change the world... and we would never give in, no matter what they say... a really cool connection in a cruel world... David Blaine is amazing I agree but I think it has very little to do with his magic. Perhaps we have to look beyond that.Don't you all think it's wonderful that he helps us to grow by demonstrating that our sense of reality is often based on nothing more than an elaborate illusion? David has great magnetism. I choose that word most carefully - if only to illustrate that which is truly Magic! IP: Logged |

Finished the book last night. Could not put it down all week. It is such smooth reading. He tells the history of many early magicians including Enrich Weiss (Houdini). He tells of his major stunts such as in the Ice, how he prepared, what his experience was, etc. Great photos in the book. This was such a good book. Gosh darn, now it's over IP: Logged |

Thanks for sharing those with us- they are very good life rules. Surprisingly wise, for someone who thinks it's beneficial to sit in a box for 40 days. Nonetheless I'll try to read the book...IP: Logged |

I think it's very beneficial to sit in a box for 40 days. It shows us that it CAN be done! IP: Logged |

arguably it's more interesting to sit in a box for 40 days than to not sit in a box for 40 days. IP: Logged |

I think that David's stunts, such as the Ice and sitting in a Box, are to show that the human mind is very powerful, that you CAN do anything you want with honest commitment and will. In his DVD, he says that the reason he does his stunts, is he is creating an image of art, that will remain in people's minds. For example, you think of him in the Ice, you picture him in the Box., etc. IP: Logged |

I often picture David Blaine in a box. That man is a hottie and the magnetism does me in. I hear he is an Aries? Figures.. me and Aries, it never ends. I have to check out that book! Thanks for the heads up! IP: Logged |

He certainly took the British back to our pre-victorian freak show instincts. There was always a merry bunch of saboteurs heading for his box, with some eggs to throw, or some wirecutters. It was quite a party!IP: Logged |

Hi Sheaa... http://www.themagiccircle.co.uk/ Well, you have to be a member or practising magician, but they do open their doors to the public on special occasions, Magic is one of my favourite things and so I *charmed* my way in.... Anyway I was just thinking, do you know how many members here are from the U.K OR London, perhaps someday we could all get together! I don’t know if this has been done already but I also belonged to another group called EOTS (End of the search) and periodically at the right time we would all get together it was fantastic or should I say FUNtastic! Just a thought.... IP: Logged |

Oh my ~ there's one tonight but it's sold out! http://www.themagiccircle.co.uk/events.shtml Nevermind, there'll be other times Well, there are quite a few UK'ers about, just have to look at their location posts <<(over there on the left) A LindaLand Union has been discussed before, yes. Perhaps we could arrange a London one here next year. It'd be best to post it up in Free-For-All and see who thinks they can make it. We discussed it here recently - http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/001238.html EOS? ~ Ah yes, this looks interesting. I see it's currently closed to new members http://endofthesearch.com/ Thanks for sharing your info, Akash ------------------ "Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers.
