I don't know if you've mentioned this before, but how do you practice wicca/paganism? What part of the path do you follow? Do you pray only to the goddess aspect? Oh, and how is that Book of Shadows coming along?

Hi Starlover,

I do consider myself a witch, though not necessarily a Wiccan. Much of what I believe overlaps with Wicca but I prefer not to commit myself to that label.. It may be nitpicky but I just don't want to be pigeonholed. I follow the Reclaiming path, which grew out of the Feri traditon in the late 70's. It is a path that sees the Earth as the living body of the Goddess and as such we feel that political action in defense of Her when She is under assault is a spiritual practice. Starhawk is by far the most visual and outspoken of the many people in Reclaiming but she was not the founder. She's just written more books than anyone else in the tradition. We honor both the Goddess and the God in our tradition, seeing the balance between these two forces as being very important.
I'm still struggling with a regular personal practice of my own but I'm very active in the larger community. I attend public rituals and classes in magic and work magic in the streets at political protest. Street magic is probably my favorite thing as I find that to be very fertile grounds for moving energy.. it's where two very powerful forces collide- the freedom and spontaneity of the global justice movement meets the entrenched, concentrated power of the state and to work magic at that boundary is powerful stuff indeed.

Alas my book of Shadows will have to wait until my life has settled abit more. Right now I'm in the process of preparing to drive to Alaska at the end of April so my house is chaotic. Plus.... I'll let you in on a secret I've not revealed here at LL yet..
Here..lean in close and I'll whisper it to you....

I'm pregnant...

Like 16 weeks now and the morning sickness has only just now worn off.. It was rough for a while. So, with all this stuff going on, the BoS will have to wait till we've settled abit.
