There is a new Ten Commandments movie that will premiere Monday, April 10 on ABC. Tv. Is anyone else going to watch it? Dougray Scott will be in it........he played the gorgeous Prince in Ever After. The Ten Commandments I always watch the classic every year. Nefertiri: "Oh,....Mooooses....." IP: Logged |

------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll IP: Logged |

hi - sorry it took so long to get back here - i forgot where this topic was:well - here is a list i mentioned on another group as far as this movie is concerned: "There were quite a few details that I felt made this ancient story much more probable than the "old" romanticized version starring Charleston Heston and Yuhl Brennan. For instance, the implication that the first ten commandments was created by "God" and then destroyed by Moses since the people broke their bond but then Moses returned to the mountain and made the tablets again, with his own hand. There was also a part in the movie where Moses, as a youth, questions who created the many gods that Egyptians worshipped. There was also a war with the Malachites after crossing the Red Sea, there was also inferrence of the slaughter of many of the Jews who did not want to bond with the "God", Moses received instruction from, because it was "too hard". The movie touched on the "I Am Who I Am" riddle. Moses didn't even address God as his own but the God of the Jewish people or their God. His conversations with his father-in-law were VERY interesting. There was also an inference that once the Jews would finally reach the promised land, that God would not be there with them, and so much more. The implication that Moses sacraficing himself to God would prevent God from completely turning his back on – as God (on the movie) addresses them as – "your people". Moses turning away from his wife and sons – his son's threat. There was also a part in the movie where a man was stoned for murder along with his lover. " IP: Logged |

Dear Amisha,I assume those ?????? are for me. Sorry, I didn't have much time to come to LL for awhile because I was SO busy with school, but I just finished this week. Yeah, I totally agree with everything you said, the movie told a very different version with different aspects. I was really surprised they emphasized the I AM as much as they did. I guess I am just used to the "romanticized" version, like you said. I also think the Charlton Heston version was more religious. IP: Logged |
