"Are people born wicked? Or is wickedness thrust upon them?"

Hello all

I've had the immense pleasure of reading a masterpiece of sorts.

Wicked, by Gregory Maguire, is an adultish re-telling about the life of Elphaba, the infamous wicked witch of the west from the classic Wizard of Oz.

However, havent any of you all wondered why was she wicked to begin with? What was all the rage about the ruby slippers? What in the world caused the cowardly lion to be so cowardly? What made the tin man have no heart? And why did the scarecrow have no mind?

Was Dorothy's tornado an accident? Or was it a clever conspiracy by the Wizard, and G(a)linda to end the life of Elphaba? After all, the house did land upon Elphaba's sister? If so? What did Elphaba know that made her so dangerous?

This is a must read for all those of you who enjoy a fresh take on a classic. However, be warned, it's filled with graphic sexuality, including an orgy of munchkins.

If you want a more PG-13 experience... Do watch the Tony Award winning Broadway musical, "Wicked". Which is based on the book. I have seen it as well, and fell madly in love with it. So much that I've seen it 10 times, and going for the eleventh. And the soundtrack is amazing, especially the song "Defying Gravity".

Other Books by the Author

Mirror Mirror (Snow White Re-invented)
Confessions of an Ugly Step Sister (Cinderella was such a sympathy monging drama queen)

I hope you all enjoy them, and have a fascinating, eye-opening experience.

"There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll
