Please help my friend and I! We have entered a competition at Gather.com for first time authors, and submitted our manuscript. The first prize is a publishing contract and a $5,000.00 advance against the royalties!

The book was based on a question my friend asked me idly one night in front of the boob tube: "What would happen if an Astrologer and his friend the psychic became embroiled in a murder investigation?"

... And Murder Rising is the answer we came up with. It is completely fictional, but it involves real hard core Astrology and accounts of psychic perceptions, relative to a fictional series of murders that have been discovered throughout the state of Massachusetts... the astrologer of the duo really gets pulled in when one of his prized students is killed by the psychopath responsible for the serial killings.

Please read the chapter (they put up the FIRST chapter only) for however many manuscripts were presented. The winners will be chosen by popular vote, as well as the judgment of a 'panel of experts'. The first chapter can be found at this location:

If we get enough votes in this round, they post the second chapter. Then there will be another round of voting. Finally the 3rd chapter will be posted and the winner selected in May, 2007.

All you have to do to vote is sign up for FREE with Gather.com, which you are prompted to do when you go to vote. You rate the chapter on a scale of 1-10 stars.

I know what happened at the above site as I was voting for you
What I mean to say is:
Have you actually gone on to publish your book?
I would be very interested to read further!
[As I'm certain others here would as well]

I'm sure that you are much to modest to promote yourself here. If even it's allowed, I'm unsure?
But, really... How can I aquire the results of your labor?
It was quite intriquing as I recall!
Was it ever finished? Do tell...

Well, after all the submissions, I can't recall how many thousands there were, only 20 were chosen to go to the second round, and our manuscript was not among their number.

But, we shall plod on, edit, perfect and send it out to other publishers etc. when the time is right.
