quote: EPUB (short for electronic publication; alternatively capitalized as ePub, EPub, or epub, with "EPUB" preferred by the vendor) is a free and open e-book standard by the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF). Files have the extension .epub. EPUB is designed for reflowable content, meaning that the text display can be optimized for the particular display device used by the reader of the EPUB-formatted book. The format is meant to function as a single format that publishers and conversion houses can use in-house, as well as for distribution and sale. It supersedes the Open eBook standard.[3]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EPUB Libraries now offer ePUB books that you can download on your portable devices. The service/books are free and a joy to read on a non-glare screens like the ones on the Kobo Reader, Sony Reader, The Nook (Barnes and Noble) and of course - The Amazon Kindle (only Amazon books can be downloaded on that one) The Kobo and the Nook are now down to $150. I'll wait for them to go down more but in the meantime, I can read all of those free books just by using my computer and a library account. Search for your library here: http://search.overdrive.com/ Or go to your library's page and see if they have the Overdrive service offered there. USE YOUR LIBRARIES, PEOPLE!!! IP: Logged |

I've noticed the option to download a book for a certain amount of time, but wasn't sure how I was supposed to do that. I don't have one of these machines, and wasn't interested until recently... I've bookmarked it. Thank you. IP: Logged |

You're welcome, Teasel. LOL, Char. They do and yet they are also catching the wave too. I love the idea of snuggling up with a Kobo reader - you gotta see this thing. It doesn't bother your eyes like regular computers do. It's really cool and you can bring it to the beach too. It's like a book only better. IP: Logged |
