Ernest Becker wrote a book called The Denial of Death and it won the Pulitzer prize back in '73. It's one of the best books I've ever read. He's psycho/philosophical I would say. The book explores how we run away from our mortality and I'd highly recommend it. He's highly focused on spirituality but in a very grounded way.

I just got a copy of another book of his this morning called The Birth and Death of Meaning. I'll let you know what it's like.
