this book has been on the NYT best-seller list for months and I started it yesterday. It was difficult putting it down to sleep. Has anyone else here read it? I am so intrigued by all the secret organizations in it! The author claims they are factual but I'm not sure I believe that. PS: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE no spoilers!! I'm about halfway through. ------------------ Hello everybody! I used to be QueenofSheeba and then I was Apollo and now I am QueenofSheeba again (and I'm a guy in case you didn't know)! IP: Logged |

I know, it's such a hard book to put down, isn't it? I actually did stay up all night to read that book when I initially got it. I'm sure the secret organizations are real- Brown wouldn't just make a page saying they are if they weren't. ------------------ "Out of your depth or not, it's up to you whether you sink or swim." Thanks, Randall! Well, I finished it. Not a bad ending at all. I think I'll go on to Angels and Demons next.PS- who here is going to see Gibson's Jesus movie? ------------------ Hello everybody! No one wanted to fund Gibson's project, so I heard he wrote the check himself. Their loss, because it is going to be quite possibly the biggest hit of the year. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." All I know is that I'm definitly going to see it, subtitles or not. I wonder... if it'll contain some of the elements that Brown talked about in his book? That would be a shocker. Oh well, even if they do decide to stay conservative, there's always The Da Vinci Code movie... *Likes controversy* But this must be something original... why would he pay for this movie to be done himself if not? There's been tons of movies done about Jesus' final days. ------------------ "Out of your depth or not, it's up to you whether you sink or swim." IP: Logged |

I just hope it sends out the right message, and I also hope there are some seeds of actual truth. What will be unique in this movie is the explicit violence that Jesus suffered. Basically you're going to see him on a cross with lots of blood. P.S. Randall, I just noticed a new banner. Interesting, www.onlinehumanities.com.

Personally I'm afraid Gibson's movie will be close to conservative Christian propaganda. It would be tight if he showed the real Mary Magdelene, but he won't. Gibson is Opus Dei, remember?------------------ Hello everybody! I used to be QueenofSheeba and then I was Apollo and now I am QueenofSheeba again (and I'm a guy in case you didn't know)! I think the best part of the book is its scathing expose of how Catholicism went after women. It's a major case for feminists. ------------------ Hello everybody! I used to be QueenofSheeba and then I was Apollo and now I am QueenofSheeba again (and I'm a guy in case you didn't know)! IP: Logged |
