I need help ! I have to do a presentation on a myth for my french lit class. I need to find a book based on one myth... read it & talk about it. I'd love to do a celtic myth but it's unlikely I'll find any books on it here. But if there are any myths you guys could recommend I'd really appreciate it. THANKS IP: Logged |

Oh dear. I should know about this... Have you tried a compendium of world mythology? Barring that possibly, I would suggest: 1) Scandinavian mythology, such as the Kalevala. Not quite Celtic, though. 2) King Arthur. It's Celtic-influenced! 3) Tolkien- your teacher might buy it, especially if it was from The Silmarillion. It's also very Celtic-influenced.------------------ Hello everybody! I used to be QueenofSheeba and then I was Apollo and now I am QueenofSheeba again (and I'm a guy in case you didn't know)! Oh sorry, it doesn't have to be celtic... I dunno why I put that in the name of the thread :s it'd help if you could give the name of a book that goes with the myth. Hm King Arthur, it's a good idea but I never really liked that story, the silmarillion is hard to find. I'll check out the scandinavian myths if you can recommend a specific book one a singular myth thanks for your help ! IP: Logged |

How did it go?------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

Hiya Zerep, have u found something yet? Well; if u haven't I used to have a really good book on myths, Celtic myths, with lots of stories; The Fate of the Children of Lir, Tristan and Isolt ect, and it has the traditional folk tales in it too, as well as pictures, paintings, sculptures to do with each myth. Basically its an excellant book if you wanted to do a Presentation 'cause you can do photocopies and things of the paintings and show that they influenced painters of that time and so on!! Heres the book on Amazon.co.uk http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0785816054/ref=sr_aps_books_1_1/026-6186220-1189207 and also .com if ur american! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1573353132/qid=1087248182/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-5549955-8973445?v=glance&s=books Hope this helps and good luck!!IP: Logged |
