I'm going into 11th grade, and I started homeschooling with 9th grade. The whole atmosphere at school was dragging me down, and I wasn't putting my needs before my wants, and I didn't have a good feeling about attending the public high school. So now I'm homeschooling and aside from it being really easy to slack off, I think that it's making me more independent and self motivated and therefore is preparing me for college in a different way than public school would. Homeschooling wouldn't work for everyone, though, and even though I'm extroverted and a people person it's fine for me and I feel fine doing it, so I'm satisfied. Like, I'm not just going to automatically homeschool my potential future children or whatever. But yeah. Ok, anyway, anybody else homeschooled? What kind of program do you use? Why/when did you start?------------------ You raise me up... to more than I can be. IP: Logged |

I've heard of some pretty mixed results from homeschooling... apparently some people just don't get the social skills they need at home. But if it works for you (and some days I really do think I'd rather study at home than go be with other people) more power to you.------------------ Hello everybody! Yeah, I don't agree with people homeschooling their children all throughout K-12 grade. But I personally decided to, just for these four years. It's kind of different that way, I think.IP: Logged |

Today was my first day of school for the fall, and I discovered several people from my class have decided to take a semester off to do independent study/homeschool. It sounds appealing... or soon it will. ------------------ Hello everybody! I used to be QueenofSheeba and then I was Apollo and now I am QueenofSheeba again (and I'm a guy in case you didn't know)! My best friend is going off to boarding school. Anyone hear of Putney Boarding School? She's going there. Anyway I've always wanted to to go boarding school, it sounds like fun compared to public school. I'd rather be home schooled, because I would learn a lot better in an intimate setting, but it would destroy my social skills. Then again, I don't have any social skills at high school, I'm pretty shy for some reason. The environment there is just plain boring, and I've never really fit in with the people I go to school with.-StarLover IP: Logged |

YHmmm nope, never heard of the school.eah, over these past couple of years I've really quited down. I'm not as rowdy, I don't feel the need to just talk on and on without purpose (as much). I think it's for the better. ------------------ You raise me up... to more than I can be. IP: Logged |

My brother did homeschooling,He isn't very good socially. I think highschool is a great thing. Even though it sucks at the time, and it feels lke everyone hates you, and yes you may belive that you hate it and never enjoy any of it, it makes you a stronger person and teaches you how to deal in certain situations. but thats just me. I spent grades 7-9 in homeschool, and I think it worked out pretty well. Course, I lived in a pretty dingy part of California at the time, and the schools there were kinda rough, so just about anything would have worked out better than what I had. When I moved out to Colorado, though, and started going to High School, I made strait A's and graduated with a 4.0! Homeschool was maybe the best thing that ever happened to me, education-wise. And I don't think I suffered socially from it. IMO, different people will get different experiences out of it, that's all. IP: Logged |

Well I'm actually back in public school and enjoying myself immensely. This is just what I needed to come out of my depression. The homeschooling for two years was okay though, but it just became too overwhelming.------------------ You raise me up... to more than I can be. IP: Logged |

i wish i were homeschooled. i never really understood my peers. i simply don't relate to them nor do i interact with them much. their conversations don't interest me and as soon as i start school i tend to get depressed. i think it's better that i stay away from them...lol but there a few people that i enjoy talking to..but i need to have something in common with them. but most people i know don't believe in astrology...*shrugs..* o well.IP: Logged |

I think the horrors of school are all part of the experience that makes us who we are. ------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." You know I want to be homeschooled but my parents think it will be expensive and they say we can't afford it. I really want to do it thought. I think that I would benefit better from the independent study and attention. Because at my school the children don't take learning very seriously and neither do the teachers really, so the students don't really learn much. And I don't want to be thought less of because of the lack of education I recieve at public high school. I have consided taking classes to make up for the lack of teaching during the year but they are pretty pricey. And i'm the kind of person that finds college to be very important and I feel that homeschool will better prep me for it. So if any of you have information that I could use to convice my parents to make the decision, I would really appreciate it. thanx. ------------------ Yes i'm a with rising and a moon. oh yea... IP: Logged |

Just call the LAUSD school district and ask for their number. I live in Santa Monica, CA. IP: Logged |

I dont know.....wont it get booring??You'll be all by yourself,no buddys,no one to tease, play pranks, you wont be shouted at by your teachers....no fun,Dont think I would survive....and worst of all you'll be at home( I go crazy If I stay home all the time, even though I hate school,Missed going ther once school got over, guess I'll feel the same bout college too ) The only people I know who do home schools are the big big kid celebs,or people aspiring to become big in sports etc.. Maybe if its just for one term,it's okay, but on the whole,I woudnt do it... P.S:No babes too!!!! IP: Logged |

hmmm.....well I definitely think I'd do much better school wise if I was homeschooled. It's hard for me to listen to lectures and follow along w/ a group...I just get so bored! But on the down side, it would be lonely There would be no one to talk to or hang out with. I would homeschool if I was in it w/ a group of people and we all got our own individual attention from the teacher at the same time.------------------ sun/mercury in taurus, moon in leo, scorpio rising, venus/mars in pisces IP: Logged |
