I know some of us are in our junior and senior years of high school, and college is coming up. I'm a junior, and today I had a long talk with my dad about college. We listed a bunch of places, schools he thinks well of, and made a long list of places to find out more about. But what comes after college? What are we to do with ourselves?

What do we want to do with ourselves? Adults, your input is welcome, as many of you have gone through a similar process. Teens, let's hear it. What's the plan gonna be?

Ah, well, I'm gonna be living in Europe by next year, so I won't have to worry about beyond sky-high prices for a good uni =D. I'll probably either go someplace in Spain (where I'll be moving- Madrid, to be exact) or maybe England? I hear it only costs about 1500 pounds per year for all UK and EU students at their universities.

Just wondering whether I'll want to go to a Spanish secondary school or a bilingual one to finish off school. I think there's even an American school in Madrid where you can get a US diploma and it's funded by the US government- which would be convenient for me. Oh well, cross that bridge when I get there!

Anyway- careers. Have no idea. I want to do something that'll change the world- you know, not in a self-righteous, 'I want to feed the hungry' type of way, but just something that would make a dent in society. I guess a symbolic "Everlong was here!". Tenth house Sun, you know =D. But I like writing and music a lot. I just don't want to do something that everyone else is doing and just become another drop in the pond, you know? If I were to become a musician, I would want to start a whole new way of doing things, something that would shake people up and make them listen. If a writer, I'd want to be something really controversial, you know? I've always admired Mark Twain .

I guess when you get down to it I just want a career where I get to do what I want and not do what everyone else is doing and fade into everyone else, if that makes any sense. I want to become my own person!

Your Midheaven has a lot to do with your career, doesn't it? Don't know very much about that- do know that mine is in Aquarius.

Well, Queen of Sheeba you just brought up a topic that I've been wondering about for far to long. I thought of almost everything, I've gone across every spectrum, left no rock unturned, and have changed my mind faster than the wind changes speeds. After doing so much like studying my astrological chart for countless hours, took advice from others, looked up salaries and wages, went to websites for degree information, took two career tests, and a personality test, I've come to realize that none of that helped and I'm still at square one. My indecisiveness is still in the lead, and I think the cause is the fact that I lack experience. I've looked at a lot of colleges too, but I've narrowed it down to four or even just one. I think I'm pretty much set for that course, but now I need a major to study.

However, once again I've turned to Linda Goodman for the answer, and I've realized that Pisceans are meant to be COMMUNICATORS, even though there are plenty of exceptions to the rule, I believe she is once again correct. Through some experience I've realized that I am never happy at where I work, because it requires me to do boring repetitive tasks, and requires little or no conversation. Guess what I am, a cashier! So right off the bat I would be miserable keeping the store, and it's not hard for people to walk all over me, even though I'm trying hard, so leading and managing aren't my thing either. I wouldn't be a good financer or an accountant, because I would be bored out of my mind, and susceptible to making mistakes.

So now it comes down to written and verbal communication of some sort. I've thought about Psychology, but I realized it would be a bad move, the reasoning is because I really don't want to take care of the neorotic and psychotic, it's too popular of a major, and I wouldn't want to be anything lower than a doctor, but yet I don't want to go to medical school, so really that occupation is out for me. Okay now I ask myself, how about law school, lawyers spend all day long communicating, and you only have to go to school seven more years, right? Maybe you can start a political career? How bad could it be? You've got all the signs for it, well, in the end I realized it's not for me. To be a good lawyer you have to be tough, you have to lie, but I'm too honest, and there is too much boring paper work involved. Political career could be fun, but in the end I'd be deemed too inexperienced by critics to do anything really great. Why bother, there is too much lying and backstabbing going on anyway.

HOWEVER, one day I was thinking to myself, and somebody mentioned the word Public Relations, well that sounds like fun I say to myself, but what do you do? Well basically you work for the government or a corporation, and you try to maintain a good relationship between the two. Wow, that sounds fun, and something that I can really do, and it pays well. STILL, something wasn't right, I felt like the job was a bit beneath me, and so I dropped it, and went to something that it related to. Well NOW, I just know that my true calling if there is such a calling, is to be a writer and a speaker, but what job correlates with that? Oh wait, what about Journalism? BINGO!

Now the pieces are falling in to place, I like big cities, I like talking, I like writing, I like being annoying, I like investigating, I like asking questions, and most of all I'm a self motivated ambitious person with a decent heart. It's not too high profile, but that's perfect, since I have two sides, one side needs limelight and independance, while the other side needs the safety and security of an organization. What is nicer than the security of a newspaper or a news station? What better occupation then Journalism, it will be challenging, I might get paid little at first, I still need to refine my writing and speaking skills, but thats what I'm all about. Also, in no way will I ever stoop low in reporting junk news like talking about movie and tv celebrities nonstop. You never know, I could change my mind tommorow though! But I doubt it.

Journalism's a great choice, Star, though it will probably be easier to find a job in tv or radio journalism than in the press. I hope you've found the right path!

I hope so too QOS; basically, I just want to do something fun with my life. I want to be able to wake up in the morning. I'm having an extremely hard time waking up to go to school, I always feel tired, and I just can't let myself do that with a job.

Hey Randall, do you think it would be wise to be an immortal, and show yourself on TV? I've been pondering this, or should all immortals keep a low profile?

Sure, you can. You might want to disappear though, after a couple of decades.

Definitely, I was thinking if I end up on that road, I'll inevitably do a disappearing act. I know myself too well. I would do it very quietly though, I would announce a retirement first, and live my life a decade or more very privately with a low key job, and finally take the immortal plunge of fully disappearing with a new name and a date of birth. Hopefully, I'll meet a few immortal friends, so I won't be alone. I still don't know though, it's a very long path from now.

I have two sides to my nature, one side needs a lot privacy and introspection for my spiritual and immortal concerns, and the other side wants me to be more outgoing, independant, and recognized for whatever work I put out in the world. So I'm a bit torn apart as to how to balance these two needs. Both are equal in every right, and I don't want to choose one over the other, because I would be very unhappy.

North Node Aries in the 10th house of career, and South Node Libra in the 4th house of the home.

So Journalism will definitley work out, or at least I think, it will require a college degree which will be my next step in life, and some considerable outgoingness which I have. Yet I don't know if it will hurt my need for privacy and spiritual concerns. I don't think it will, so I believe it's a healthy outlet for me. If I end up reporting on television, I must make sure one need doesn't dominate the other. Or vice versa! A healthy balance is highly needed. One day I will disappear though, and sacrifice the material world for the spiritual, but not any time soon, you know! I'm a Pisces so I'll always choose the latter.

Ooh, I've always wanted to have a disappearance! The best would be some kind of incident to generate huge headlines.... I could die in a plane crash or be assassinated or something. But I would have to warn my friends and family somehow... wouldn't want to cause them pain.

Better to go off with a bang than to fade out, I agree.

Ever noticed how people who died at the height of their lives are remembered as almost legendary? JFK. Marilyn Monroe. John Lennon. You get the idea .

If I were to become famous/etc, I would disappear at my peak.

It's too dangerous, I don't want people looking for me. I'm not going to disappear at my peak, it would hurt too many people, I'm just going to disappear in peace. Fame can be a curse more than a blessing. You don't want to be trapped by the admiration of others. Randall is immortal, so one day he'll disappear too, many moons from now of course, but I wonder who will inherit LindaLand?

hey everyone in lindaland! Hey QueenOfSheeba!
I am a freshman in university so I don't have much experience but I can say that once you experience the college/university/REAL WORLD, you will know who your are. I say this becuase you start to become independent, meet many people and everything just falls together. Trust me, I was feeling the same way as you QueenOfSheeba, I was thinking, what is after college? But you will soon realize that things fall into place and everything happenes for a reason. When I was a senior in high school I had no idea what I wanted to be or where I wanted to go to school and when application time came around, I just applied to one university that is nearby and I got in. It turned out really well because I wanted a school nearby that had the major i was interested in and this was tehr igth school. I decided on all this my second half of senior year. Before that I was thinking, College? University? It is so far away, in the future. But when the time comes I am sure you will do fine and if you need help, you can talk to me.
I think a wise step after high school is college/univeristy so you can continue your education and be what you want to be. So GOOD LUCK and tell me how it is all going.

By the way, I see you live in california, I do too! There are many universities in cali, as you may know. It all depends on what you are looking for or maybe you might want to study somehwere else, which is also very FUN!

Well, i'm in my first year of college after graduating two years ago.

I think i know how you feel,

i wasn't to sure so i decided to take the year off and think about it.

I worked a part-time job, and used the rest of my time thinking about other things.

It's funny because i ended up in the same postion i was when i graduated.

However it gave me some time to think about it and earn some extra cash for college.

As well it gave me a diffrent outlook on how the real world is.

Okay, I'm an official idiot. Thinking too much about something is not a very good idea. After a few days of rest and relaxation, and letting go of the problem, it only took me a few moments to realize I'm a POOPIE HEAD, and my REAL INNER VOICE spoke and said, "SONIA, GO TO LAW SCHOOL you'll be better off." THE END.

P.S. I'm a good COMMUNICATOR, and being a Trial Lawyer would be a wise move for me. I like to read, speak, and write. Seven more years of school, why not? District Attorney...perhaps! Although, I think I've been watching too much Law and Order! What, I'm a Pisces give me a break. I already sent my college application, wish me luck!
