As I'm sure most of you have noticed, I'm not around much. This is for a lot of reasons. I don't think it's good that the moderator is in such absence that many new Knowflakes in this forum may not have even talked to him. Because of this, if Randall would like to pass this moderatorship off to anyone else, or if anyone else would like to take it and Randall would give it to them, I will step down as moderator. If not, then that's fine- I'll still drop in now and then. But I feel like I owe Randall an apology for neglecting the forum. I'm sorry. Love y'all. Sheeba ------------------ Hello everybody! This is weird (I wasnt going to post it... but what the hey?!). I had a flash thought last night that you wanted to give up your Moderatorship and that there would be a new Moderator soon. I didnt think much of it but when I saw this post today I was a little: !I dont think an apology is really necessary but it's nice of you to do! Youve been a great Mod! And I hope, like you said, that you will drop by now and then. All the best to you Sheeba. IP: Logged |

Don't feel bad QOS~ There's nothing to apologize about- it's a wee-quiet-forum anyway! But it has been promised it will grow, and grow! I had a funny premonition about Teenspirit like you 26, I suppose because I've been coming in alot lately! Likewise, all the best wishes to you Sheeba! To be really honest, I'd LOVE to help out in Teen Spirit- I really, really, really would! ------------------ "And dreams, don't ever forget, are the first step in manifesting wishes into reality"-- Linda Goodman's Star Signs IP: Logged |

Wow 26T and Sunchild, that's pretty neat. But anyway, QOS, you're a good moderator here, and like everyone else said, it isn't very busy here, no need to apologize . IP: Logged |

Thanks, Randall and SunChild! Yes, everything is very well with me- or at least tolerably well. Thanks to everyone else too, your kindness is comforting. Well, I'm starting with a trip to Greece, Turkey, and Italy, then some family stuff in New York, and finally back to last summer's destination- Guatemala again. I think I get back about a day before school starts. It should be fun!IP: Logged |

I'm in the northeast right now, got back from Europe a week or so ago. It was very educational, and I don't mean just in the sense of seeing museums and old buildings, etc. With everything I'd heard about Europe (from my liberal peers), I guess I expected it to be a utopia of sorts, governed by enlightened socialists and run through with art and culture. It's a real place, of course. There are lots of problems and unpleasantnesses (Italy is covered in graffiti, much of it Communist or anti-American). I think everyone goes through something like this when they read about a place and form ideas and images of it, then visit it and realize that they got it a little bit wrong. In a way, I expected Europe to be like America, but with three thousand years of culture and history attached. Again, I was wrong- it's different from America, in lots and lots of subtle ways that don't look important, but that really throw one off. For example, in Tuscany they don't salt their bread. Weird. I also had some thoughts about nostalgia. Americans are almost always being nostalgic for something or other and fooling ourselves into thinking that life was simpler at some other time. That is, of course, almost entirely untrue, but I think we're so prone to that because we suffer a disconnect from our own history. In Europe, history is everywhere and they're completely unimpressed by it. Americans are in awe of history, probably because the history we learn about is not really our own. Consequently we have nostalgia, rather like an adopted child who thinks that life would have been so much better if his real parents had raised him. I don't know, maybe that's a bad analogy. But please don't think I was so preoccupied with deep thinking that I forgot to have a good time- I went on a Mediterranean cruise, drank a lot (more than anyone else, but curiously I was never drunk- also weird), shopped some and did a lot of sight-seeing. It was great. But enough about me, what have you all been up to? ; ) ------------------ Hello everybody!
