What do you think about marijuana? It's very common in my area, and although I haven't tried it myself, most of the people that I know have. I don't really fully accept it, since I do think that it's detrimental to spiritual growth, but on the other hand, I think it's safer than alchohol and cigarrettes.

Personally I've never indulged, and doubt I ever will, though I have included references to it in some of my poetry- which might inspire people to think I'm on it. I don't fully understand why people would do it- basically, I think it's stupid, and my drug-addicted friends agree with me: "Dude, drugs are stupid. At first they're fun, but then you get hooked and you keep doing them only because you're addicted, and it then they're awful and it sucks."

So that's why I don't smoke. But I should admit- I do drink, on occassion. Always in safe situations, and never to the point where I can't tell what the heck I'm doing. That kind of thing, in moderation, I think is okay.

It is something you may get introduced to eventually. I know I have, at parties ect...
I've seen the negative affects, and certainly have seen the long-term abuse affects, and it is not appealing at all.
Eventually it seems to 'dumb' down the brain- or at least slow it down with over usage.
I have the occasional glass of wine- I am not really a fan of alcohol though.

Interesting topic... I wouldn't go as far to say it's safer than alcohol or cigarettes. I mean there's still the contentious issue as to whether marajuana is addictive or not, I've got differing opinions on that. I started smoking it when I was about 14 (I'm 19 now), and it was just something I did casually because I didn't smoke cigarettes and very very seldomly drank. At the same time, my best friend wasn't into it at all... I did try to get him to try it a few times (stupidly) but he always rejected it which I admired. Then when I was 16 I moved overseas, when I came back 2 years later he was smoking like a chimney.

I thought it was cool to begin with because his Dad was growing it, so obviously we had a near-endless supply and we had alot of pretty fun days due to it. As the year kind of progressed I grew tired of it, I still did it every now and then (maybe twice a month) but I had no desires to do it any more than that. Him on the other hand, got to the point where I can genuinely say I believe he is addicted. He moved out of home and I think that was part of the problem because he really didn't have much else to do. I moved to a different state and now I don't smoke at all, but talking to him the other day he asked me when I was going to go and visit him, along with "we can just smoke all day and drink all night" so obviously he isn't growing out of it any time soon.

So really I think it's down to personal choice. If I had the choice, my friend would've taken the same route as me because his life would be improved if it didn't revolve around drugs. That being said, smoking a bit every now and then isn't exactly the worst thing in the World either.

It seems to have a way of taking over one's life. For me, that in itself is a good reason to avoid it.

On a related topic, I can understand why people start smoking: despite the fact that smoking kills you, it is an unbelievably cool thing to do. I've been tempted, but until I start having an unbelievably cool life, I don't see the point of that either.

I've never tried it myself, nor am I curious about it at all so I think it's safe to say I wont ever try it.. I'm too scared of not being in complete control and totally alert.. I like drifitting of into daydreaming, but this is another kind of drifting off. I've never been drunk before either. I've been a little tipsy, but not drunk - for the same reasons. I love being lucid (no reality escapism for me - not induced by anything or anyone other than myself..anyhow). Besides, for some reason (no sexism intended) I always think it looks so bad on a girl to be really drunk or really wasted. Not that it doesn't look bad on a guy. But yeah, for some reason it makes me sicker to see girls that way.

I'm surrounded by people who have, though. It's their choice.. I don't think it's THAT detrimental unless you take a lot of it over an extended period of time.

I've never done it. A great deal of my friends do, though. I say, if they wanna do it, let them. That's their choice. If it's taking over their lives, though...Then you know it's time to quit.

I've done it... and do whenever I can. It helps me calm down and stop worrying about everything.. and it makes me happy, even if its not a true happiness, I dont care. It just makes me giggle or it'll make my head feel like a balloon. Its a lot of fun... its not addicting so I could stop at anytime. When ever I'm not on it my head never stops thinking, I could sit and think about.. the dumbest things all day long.. and I hate that. It takes away my feelings, and my thoughts, which some might say is a bad thing. But you're not me and you dont know the things I think about. Its a break away from things and I think everyone should try it at least once before they say its a horrible thing. BUT thats just my opinion.

if you have a personality that says, "there's no such thing as too much of a good thing", then marijuana will be your favorite drug- and your biggest enemy down the line.

for me i was a depressed kid, and having that inclination marijuan was just great. but as i grew out of the depression the marijuana stayed. then it stayed alot longer than i ever would have wanted it to.

it lets you get lost in your head without having a problem. it will be like a magnifying glass on the world and your thoughts are nothing but your own. marijuana can help you assimilate more thoughts into your head but it will never allow you to grow beyond a drug induced feeling. it cuts off all connectedness and will leave you longing for more and more and more.

the good points of it is that when you're with friends smoking a thought gets thrown in the air and carried as if it was on big thought. like an endless conversation...

i say stay away from it, but i also know that drugs are a big part of many peoples' life plans, so whatev whatev. i will never smoke again and i used to sell it- i like to think ive moved on

I have known a lot of regular users of pot, and they seem to be devoid of all ambition.

Nay

I was a big fan of River Phoenix and it broke my heart the morning I learned he had died of a drug overdose. He was a vegan and a naturalist, yet in spite of his amazing beliefs he decided to put toxins in his body, in the form of drugs. I believe that Marijuana can become addictive and lead to long term drug abuse in many instances.
I will stick to MUSIC, it has been my drug of choice for years...
