I've noticed from time to time more Aussies in here.
This is a thread for you guys to show off your Australianisms. ( I just invented a word)
Bring something in about the food, culture, or history.
Especially funny stuff!
I know when I visited America and went to school there I was treated like icon, and became really popular really fast.
The kids were full of hilarious questions.
I was saying stuff like "No, I don't have kangaroos following me to school"
"Yes, I do live in a house like yours!"
"Yes the bathroom is indoors."
And some were horrified on how we use the word 'fanny'.

But the best part was when they tried to mimic our accent. Hysterical!

So share something Aussieness, like Banana's in Pyjamas, jokes that the rest of the world wont get, sing 'home among the gum trees', and US people can share their experience or things they think about the red continent.

Here are some classic Classroom songs: http://www.gigglepotz.com/songs.htm

LOL

quote:

G'day

G'day G'day,

How ya goin?

What ya know?

Well, strike a light

I say - G'day

And how ya goin?

I say G'day, G'day G'day

She'll be right!

That's funny!

In Australia we don't ever tip waiters, ect..It's not our custom, but obviously it's a gesture to remember when visiting other parts of the world.
When I went to America we had to remember it's proper to tip.

We have LOTS of Sexy males here...nice tanned bodies, especially the surfers!

If I remember correctly, quite some time ago I learned the Australian term for "guppy" from a commercial on the television. I believe it was "shark". That's all I know...

isn't a "guppy" a small tropical fish (often kept in aquariums)?
