a werewolf

i was with emily in the car, we were driving through a very beautiful but heavily wooded neighborhood...lots of big trees and hilly, i believe we were on a mountain top...i saw a dog that looked rabid, and told emily to be careful getting out of the car...she hopped out for whatever reason and i saw it coming towards her..i kept yelling for her to get back in the car...she finally saw it and got back in the car, just in the nick of time

we drove a bits and it was right at the drivers door, barking and snarling at me...for some reason i reached my hand through the glass of the window and touched one of it's teeth which was razor sharp...

we then drove up to the house we were supposed to be going to, and there was a tree in the yard...there were 3 small children in the tree...i was afraid for them as this dog then ran up to the porch and stood there...mentally daring me to get out of the car...i looked at this dog and realized that it was morphing into a person...it's eyes were white with a small dot of black in the center...

i then realized it was a werewolf and i was very scared..the little children got out of the tree and began to run down the street, and i was so scared for them, but they were not afraid at all...

it was so very weird...i tossed and turned ALL night AGAIN...this is like the 4th night in a row i have had nightmares and tossed all the night...this is getting on my nerves...but this is the first dream that i really remember vividly...

When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall, always.

Something new in your life, something you just got in touch with (the touch of the tooth) is scaring you. The fact that the kids are not afraid should be taken as a symbol that this is not as scary as it seems to you. You've been protecting yourself (sitting in a car). Is Emily your daughter? You want to protect her from something that is not dangerous. Since you're driving a car: You are on your way. I'd say you're on your way to be more brave, less protective.

Hello again!

My feeling is that the dog represents a threat - to you and your daughter (i.e. family) - a threat that perhaps your daughter can see but does not realize the danger of.

It seems that you are aware of and attempting to "handle" it (hand) (window=awareness) and realize the seriousness of it (razor-sharp teeth).

I think the tree symbolizes the state of self, and the three children in it suggest the beginning of a process, a psychological process that has not yet matured/developed fully. However, they could also represent a time-frame - months/years? Or they could even represent the age at which something occured which may be at the root of the fear/threat/conflict.

The morphing dog/werewolf suggests that this threat may be embodied by a person.

The children running away could indicate the passage of time (3 months or years) or they could suggest that, upon realizing the nature of the threat, the "psychological process" that had begun has now been halted - it does not "mature" - perhaps due to the shock of the realization of the fear.

I hope I am not correct.

Bernadette, I will be keeping you in my thoughts. I hope you have someone you can talk to about these things, someone who's shoulder you can cry upon. Please do not try to hold all of these emotions inside. It is no wonder you toss and turn in the night.
