I've always been afraid of dying, and I get paranoid if I'm alone in the house at night. But lately, within the last 12 months, I have had two dreams where I was stricken with some terminal illness, it always seemed to be cancer, and never got the chance to graduate from high school or tell people how I felt toward them. I don't know if this is just my subconcious fears making their way into my thoughts at night or perhaps a warning of something. Or maybe I'm scared because my great-aunt just died nine months ago of leukiemia and it hit her very fast. Any thoughts?

remember in Starsigns, when Linda talks about how it's morbid and evil to predict someone's death because they wiil get so worried about death that they will cause themselves to die?
well that's what you're about to do to you!
there are reasons you are having such dreams, and i didn't get any feeling on them so i'm afraid i can't explain them---
but i will tell you this- if you worry about death constantly you are commiting subconcience suicide, even if that's not to the point of killing you, such negetive thoughts will only bring negetive aspects into your life.

Hello V.A.A,

Where you able to tell your great-aunt how you felt about her before she passed ? Possiblily that is what is haunting you???
Generally death in a dream doesnt symbolize death, but some sort of rebirth.
I think that because in the dream you feel like you have unfinished buisiness in the dream, there may be things you have to do. (example , possiblily some life work you havent started yet, but something you have always wanted to do)
As for the dreams, try sleeping with a glass of water above or near your head. The water will absorb the negativity.
In the morning when you rise flush the water down the toilet 3 times. Putting a bay leaf under your pillow will also help calm your slumber.

Have you read Siliva Browns book The Other Side?
I lost my husband at 21 years old and have always had issues with death. The book has helped me deal with his death as well as my own fear.
I hope you feel better.

I will, too.

Hello, AA and Zz!

VAA, they are right, and I would take what they say to heart.

And you are right, this is certainly your "subconscious fears making their way into" your thoughts, especially in lieu of your great-aunt - and is also a warning of sorts.

The illness, the cancer, suggests that there is something eating away at you, from the inside, not necessarily physically - yet. It could be something that was suppressed in childhood. There is some sort of emotional suppression, something you have yet to give expression (no chance to tell people how you feel) which is impeding your development (no graduation).

Why are you afraid of dying?
Why do you get paranoid when alone at night?

If you can find the real reasons for these things, your fears will vanish, and so will those dreams!

The warning is simply that if your fears are not dealt with, they will inevitably consume you.

Those are my thoughts!

That observation about cancer and an issue eating away at me is probably very accurate. I've constantly been afraid of expressing myself around people because I'm so emotional, and never thought they would be able to deal with it.

"Why are you afraid of dying?
Why do you get paranoid when alone at night?"

I don't know why I'm afraid of dying. I have never been able to deal very well with even pet deaths. I've always attributed my paranoia at being alone at night to the large amount of police, detective and America's Most Wanted programs I used to watch, and still do, but not as frequently.

My dreams have subsided for the time being. I did try the water next to my bed thing and it seemed to work.
Thanks again to everyone for their suggestions, interpretations, and support!
