precursor to this dream..my boss' father passted away last week, after they disconnected him from life support..I think this is where this came from..but I can't be sure..I think I just want to put it down to see...I was in a hospital, starch white. There were children running around though, happily. I walked in a what looked like a lounge area, and was standing at a round table. There was a man there, an older gentleman, with white hair. He had a sweetness about him, and we talked briefly. A nurse came in and informed him that his wife was near death, and he needed to come to her room. The nurse was dressed in the starched white uniform and hat, something you don't see much anymore you know? She was middle age, with blonde hair. He thanked me for talking to him and I said this to him..."I hope everything works out the way you want it to" He turned around and thanked me again, and said that everything was going to be ok... The nurse then burst into tears, because she was going to be the one who took his wife from life support. She felt she was playing the role of God, and she leaned over on top of a mini refrigerator and was balling and praying. I walked over to her and placed my hand on her shoulder and leaned over her. I began to pray outloud with her, for God's will to be done and to release her from the fear that she was holding... it ended with me praying... I just think this is a reflection of Ken's father passing away..but it kinda stoked my curiousity as well.. ------------------ When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. Maybe the dream just reflex your own mixed feelings about disconnection some one from a life support machine? The starch white hospital makes me think of Heaven, the children playing around happily indicates that this is a nice place. The old man makes me think of our image of God - sweet, white hair..And you meet him in the lounge - isn't the entrance to Heaven where God meets us when we die? When you say to him that you hope that everything will work out the way he wants it to it sounds to me like you ask for God's will/permission in this matter. His answer sort of confirms that it is ok to disconnect this person from the machine. I think the nurse represents your own feelings and that you really want God to be present when a decicion like this is made (so you ask for him to come to the room). The nurse dressed in white makes me think of an angel. Her feelings is a part of your feelings: This is playing God. By praying you ask one more time for God's permission..IP: Logged |

woooooooooooooooooooow...I am in tears right now Stella...that was an amazing interpretation of my dream...thank you so much for your time...I never thought of it in that form, but everything you said makes perfect sense to me... going off subject here..but just thought of something to ask you... I see you are from Greece. Once, while on a trip to Niagara Falls, Canada, I met a family from Greece. Athens. They owned 2 restaurants and a motel in Canada and had a nephew who was visiting them that summer, while working for them. His name Americanized/English is Rick. I'm thinking Kupianos--was the spelling for his name Greek. Anyway...he became my penpal, and he always referred to me as his Ma'ven. Is that translation for my name? Which my childhood nickname was Mandy...or does it mean something else?

Hi again Bernadette. I'm sorry I can't help you with this nickname, I've been trying to think what it can mean both with Greek and Latin spelling, but it makes no sense to me. But I'm not Greek, I've just lived here for ages (my Greek is good). I guess Rick is Kyriakos. Nice story, though. Are you still in contact?

thanks for responding Stella! I don't know what it means either..never have haha..anyway, no, we lost contact years ago..actually, he wrote me and said he wanted to move to America..and in broken English exclaimed how much he would like to be married to me etc...well, after my mother caught a gander at that, she made me stop writing him..I was only 15 years old at the time, so, I had to listen to my mother! A few years ago though, my mother and sister traveled back to Niagara Falls, and went in their restaurant, The Country Chalet, (the other was called The Hitching Post) and the cousin who actually lives there, whose name is Rick also, recognized my mother and asked about me...he is (or was at that time) an international lawyer, can speak 5 languages and doing very well for himself...as for *MY* Rick, he is a dentist and living in Buffalo... HA! I could have been a dentist's wife! Course, it always makes me think of Herbie the Dentist on Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer..LOL! ------------------ When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. I have to ask my husband if he knows this family..he was in Niagara Falls years ago..all those Greeks stick together, you know. My husband told me he had loads of marriage offers when he went to the US and Canada, all the Greek-American's wanted to marry their daughters to a "real" Greek. I guess "your" Rick got an offer in the end..As for Rick and Rick - the Greeks HAVE to name their children after their parents, which means that all the cousins have the same names.. IP: Logged |

ok. how cool would that be if he knew them??!!this was in 1985...i was there twice that summer..they owned a motel too, across the road from the Country Chalet...the Hitching Post was not within walking distance, Rick (the older one as the cousin is my age) drove us there..and he was driving without a license to drive!! Oh, the things my mother would die over if she knew I did back then!! LOL! And I'll try to remember to get out his letters, and I'll tell you where he lived in Greece...I've got them put away somewhere.. ------------------ When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. This dream has new symbolism as my stepfather passed away on Tuesday and that night my mother had a near death experience...she even saw the angels coming for her...IP: Logged |
