The other night, just as my cousin fell asleep, the tv in her room went on. It's impossible that she or anyone else could have touched the remote control. Is it possible that the brain, about to fall asleep, can send out waves at the same frequency as the remote control?
My cousin is very perceivable, eg, she's had the same dreams same night as her sister and steph mum. In general, she "feels" things (a very harmonious Pisces Moon, 3rd house).

Hmmm ... certainly possible. Interesting.

I never really thought about it. I don't know the details or facts about such a thing so I don't know if it is possible! I'd probably just assume it was some sort of ghost or entity if it happened to me. But the brain waves are a really interesting idea!

I saw on tv, a long time ago, maybe 1 or 2 years...that scientists used "microwires" implanted in the brains of two monkeys to monitor electrical activity as the animals moved their arms and hands.
As the monkeys moved, their brain waves were fed to a robotic arm, which in turn mimicked the animals' movement.
The researchers were able to send the brain signals over the Internet to trigger movement in a robotic arm at another location.

So, doing a research about this program, I found this article :

quote:
Moving Objects With Brainwaves
April Cummings

Chuck Jorgensen has never flown a 757 -- but with the black and silver band on his forearm, he could potentially steer and land one, without ever touching the controls.

Instead of using the muscles in his arm, he'd use his brain.

For the last three years, researchers at NASA Ames have been experimenting with a new way to communicate with machines and computers, by mapping and harnessing the electronic signals our brains send to our nerve endings when we want to do something. Sensitive electrodes pick up the signals, sending them to computers that reinterpret them to perform some other task.

"Instead of having muscles move the fingers, we can move the fingers and have the signal do something else, like flip off a light switch, or turn the TV on or off," Jorgensen said. "Open a car door. Move a wheelchair."

Or type on a computer screen without a keyboard. Or in the future, play a musical instrument without actually touching it, or perform surgery more accurately than a human hand ever could.

"We're on the verge of a new way for people to talk to their world," Jorgensen said.

Now, NASA researchers are going a step further. Instead of waiting for the brain to send the signals to the nervous system, they're trying to harness brain waves at the source -- in essence, letting your brain communicate directly with the computer.

Guy Powers is one of the first test subjects. First researchers feed his brainwaves into a computer simulator. By relaxing his body and concentrating, Guy is able to change the pattern of those waves in a predictable way. In one demonstration, he moves two dials on the screen.

"This is coming straight from his brain," said Leonard Trejo of NASA. "He's moving it with his brain wave activity."

Powers is learning something, too.

"I've found a zone, where if I can allow my brain to relax a bit, the needle jumps," he said. "What I have to find out in my brain is where that zone is."

He's developing enough control to separate left from right, and enough basic skill to steer a virtual land rover over the surface of mars.

Researchers don't know yet how soon the brainwave technology could be put to practical use. But they do believe that we're at the dawn of an age when what we think is literally what we do.

The human brain is a mystery which we don't know almost anything, therefore, I believe that it is possible to move objects, send signs ,waves, etc
For some comes naturally, as if it was a gift, for others it can be more difficult, has to be a training... but it is possible for all.

love
Jakie

quote:
The Awakened Mind

For almost three decades we have measured the brainwave patterns of people whose states of consciousness one would emulate – spiritual masters, meditation teachers, and people of optimum creativity in all walks of life. The brainwave pattern that we found, named the Awakened Mind, is a combination of all four categories – beta, alpha, theta, and delta – in the right relationship and proportion

Since beta is thinking and the combination of alpha, theta and delta is meditating, you can see that the masters are in a state of thinking and meditating simultaneously, with a flow of connection between the two functions. Someone in the Awakened Mind brainwave state has access to the unconscious empathy, intuition, and radar of the delta waves, the subconscious creative storehouse, inspiration and spiritual connection of the theta waves, the bridging capacity, lucidity and vividness of imagery, and relaxed detached awareness of the alpha waves, and the ability to consciously process thoughts in beta – all at the same time!

BETA brainwaves are the fastest frequencies ranging from 14 cycles per second up to 38 cycles per second. Beta is your normal thinking state, your active external awareness and thought process. Without beta you would not be able to function in the outside world.

ALPHA brainwaves are the brainwaves of relaxed detached awareness, visualization, sensory imagery and light reverie. Ranging between about 9 cycles per second and 14 cycles per second, alpha is the gateway to meditation and provides a bridge between the conscious and the subconscious mind.

THETA brainwaves are the subconscious mind. Ranging from about 4 cycles per second up to 8 cycles per second, theta is present in dreaming sleep and provides the experience of deep meditation when you meditate. Theta also contains the storehouse of creative inspiration and is where you often have your spiritual connection. Theta provides the peak in the peak experience.

DELTA brainwaves are your unconscious mind, the sleep state, ranging from about 4 cycles per second down to 0.5 cycles per second. But when present in combination with other waves in a waking state, Delta acts as a form of radar – seeking out information – reaching out to understand on the deepest unconscious level things that we can't understand through thought process. Delta provides intuition, empathetic attunement, and instinctual insight.

The MEDITATION brainwave pattern is a combination of alpha and theta where theta provides the depth and profundity of the meditation experience – the subconscious inner space from which creativity, insight, and healing spring – and alpha provides the bridge, or the link, to the conscious thinking mind so that you can actually remember the contents of your meditation.

The AWAKENED MIND brainwave pattern combines the intuitive, empathetic radar of the delta waves, the creative inspiration, personal insight, and spiritual awareness of the theta waves, the bridging capacity and relaxed, detached, awareness of the alpha waves, and the external attention and ability to consciously process thought of beta waves, all at the same time.

It is a brainwave pattern shared by people in higher states of consciousness regardless of their philosophy, theology or meditation technique. This brainwave pattern can be found during “peak experience” and in all forms of creativity and high performance. The awakened mind is also the “ah-ha,” appearing at the exact instant of solving the problem, or getting the insight.

Thanks a lot, Jakie. I loved that Brazilian Santa and can just imagine what he's up to at Christmas!
I had a mail from my cousin again, and she wondered if maybe her mum could have passed by because she smelled the perfume her mother uses (but also other people she knows). Her mother is a very strong Scorpio, physically in Afghanistan at the moment...
