This dream depressed me...and as usual, I have problems interpreting my own dream, so any inputs are appreciated.
I took the train to New York. I came to this huge, grey city, all modern skyskrapers, but no people around. I felt very lost. I know I am outside the center of the city. Then there was this little shop. I somehow knew I'd meet my friend K there, K was working in a bar somewhere in New York. I enter the shop. The woman is selling a white dress to someone. I ask for a job, I say I can sew and alter the clothes for the customers. I know I need a job, because I don't have money and that really worries me. Then K arrives, she goes on and on about how she'd lost her job on a petrol platform in the Falkland islands and decided to come to New York. I tell her I'm completly lost, I have no idea where I came from, only that I think it was about half an hour journey away. K gets out a map and I look at it and believe I come from this place Pyrgi (=Tower, in Greek), it's situated in a bay. I take the boat back and then suddenly on the boat is my husband, he's been looking for me. I'm relieved to see him.

(I've never been to New York. And, actually, the street with that shop looked very much like a street in Oslo.)

I'll just add a few things... before going to sleep I was thinking that I'd really, really like to go to NY and go mad and party and meet some interesting people. My friend K is my adventurous side - real life K digs gold in Alaska and climbs mountains in Africa, my life was like that once...And sewing and altering clothes is something I'm very good at in real life...And I HATE Oslo.

To me the message is this....
Your sense of direction in life is the issue here. Your carefree friend losing her job is the aspect of you who used to live more on the wild side, you were busier and were not so much in a routine. You are showing yourself a map OUT of this comfort zone you are in and I say this because your hubby is your security, you feel safe with him and obviously you must love him deeply as does he. But you need something more...I am not sure what that is but adventure is part of it. I don't think your affections need stimulation I think its your direction, because our jobs are our daily routine and what we earn a living from and in a lot of ways define who we are. You want a change but you already know that. Somehow the pyrgi symbolizes what the Tower in the tarot represents. As if there is a big change coming along. Interesting how K showed you the map...showing you the way. The change is coming but you feel angst and the part where you are lost in the dream is your fear for this change that you need to make.

If I am just rambling on and this does not fit sorry, but thats what I see.
Yes your thoughts prior to sleeping stimulated the dream but they are YOUR thoughts and a part of your soul's language to communicate to you!

Oh yes also wanted to add you see how you took the train to NY instead of the plane.
The train, though enjoyable enough is the SLOWER route to NY...you are taking your time, indecision? Shows you don't feel you are ready just yet...make sense? bourditsa ki afti?

Thanks a lot for your interpretation, it really makes sense. Reflecting my feelings, I had my biannual what-the-heck-do-I-do-in-this-place thing...Very interesting what you said about Pyrgi/tarot Tower - I read up on that card. The tower of materialism...Also about the train...I AM moving in the right direction, but it really goes slowly. Ipomoni is not a word in my vocabulary, I'm too mercurian and have an Aries MC...Actually, the shop scene probably also is away of telling myself that I have more ressources than writing, I could also sew for a living if it's necessary...
