I just read on a post that you said your husband was in Canada in 1986..what part of Canada?? I met the Ricks there in 1985, but I did return for a brief visit in 1986. The eldest Rick was not there then though, his Visa had run out and he was back in Athens, but the cousin Rick was still there. Their restaurant the Country Chalet was on a hill above a German restaurant, within walking distance of the Minolta tower. When I was there in 1985, we walked to the falls from their motel, which was across the street from the Country Chalet. It was 4th of July, and we watched the fireworks from the American falls! There was another Greek family that owned a motel across from theirs...something like the American Motel, ..or the Presidents Motel...something like that. We went over there one night, and visited the family that owned it. The younger boy of that family, around our age at the time, ordered pizza, and kept telling us that once we had Canadian pizza, we'd never want American pizza again...LOL... oh my, what memories you invoke for me!! Such good and happy thoughts...and you weren't even aware of it!! I know this isn't a dream, and I'm sorry if anyone gets mad for me posting this here..I just had to for some reason... IP: Logged |

As a matter of fact, I just was looking on the internet..why I hadn't thought of this before I don't know...but,...their restaurant is STILL there!! It's on Main street...Country Chalet Breakfast Buffet House...and if I could locate those pictures of me and Rick, I'd put them on the knowflake album for you to see...I think their motel is the Chalet Motel...becasue I found a photo of it, and it looks familiar...Rick and I had our picture taken together sitting by the pool... AND~ We LOVED to go to Tony's Place!! It's still open on Victoria Street!! OOOOOOOOH THE FABULOUS MEMORIES!! FURTHER RESEARCH SHOWS ME that the rest is on Main st and the Chalet Inn is on Ellen Ave...right across from each other!! That's the place...the Chalet Inn... ohmygosh....What an amazing discovery!!! Hi Amanda! My husband was in Canada in the autumn/winter 1986. I asked him about these Greek places, but he had not been there. He was driving with a friend from Boston to Toronto via Niagara falls.IP: Logged | |
