I just realized that I have a lot of dreams where the action takes place in a forest..How should I interpret this? I don't really like forests...

Stella...I have never interrupted someone elses dream before..but something just struck me and I thought I'd add alittle something to this. When I think of a forest, I think of thick greenery, tall trees, and darkness. Darkness because usually the tall trees provide a covering from the sun that doesn't allow alot of light to reach the bottom...and because of this dark and looming place, wild animals can hide there and watch ME but I can't see them...

so, although I find forests to be enchanting and fascinating, they can be somewhat frightening. Do you think that the forests in your dreams could represent a part of your inner self that you might not like? Something that is dark and hidden that frightens you? Or maybe not yourself, but someone else in your life?

Man..this is a long shot..but just my thoughts...

Thank you!
The thing is, the forest is the back ground, the scenery, the stage for the whole dream...Maybe it's the dark forest of my mind and the secrets. Out on the open plains everything is shown...Like you say, the forest is not threathening in itself, but what's in there can be..

Threatening or dark woods may represent the dark unexplored areas of the unconscious.

i feel so lonely when i'm not with you ..it's such a shame that i'm spending my time without you ..yet i have found you're from a different world ..don't you understand we ride on a space-ship out of control, how sublime

Bernadette, you are on top of it!

Amber, you wrote what I was going to write. The forest can be a symbol of the unconscious. I think this is so with you Stella, especially since it is in the "background". Perhaps someday, in some dream, you will have the courage to step into it?

I'm already there...right in the middle! Thanks for your inputs, it suits the dreams. But those forests irritate me, I don't like forests and I prefer to be somewhere I like in my sleep! So I told myself last night: No forest!! And was rewarded with a swimming pool, a garden and the beautiful cathedral of my home town...I guess they all symbolize the same, but the estetics are so much more appealing...

Funny?!
Actually, I was wondering about this again, since last night I had another dream where the setting was all those places I don't like in real life, though there was nothing dark, scary or threathening about the dream....So now I start wondering that maybe the forest and scenery that I don't like, actually means that I'm exploring sides of myself that I'm not too pleased with either...Hm, gotta think about that.
