Hi everyone! I have had many many weird dreams... but this is the one that i remember the most. I have had a feeling about 3 times in my life, the first time was the worst when i was about 12yrs old. I Cant remember the dream itself, but i woke up and my limbs felt swollen, and large, so heavy that i could not move. I physically couldnt move myself. I was obviously still not fully awake and was subconciously telling myself that i couldnt move. I tried to move and freaked out and screamed out to my mum and dad, who rushed in. I told them what was wrong and they told me that i wasent swollen up and that i could move. I could see that i wasent swollen but i felt like i was. They cooled me down with a damb cloth on my head, and just talked to me a while, and i eventually realised i could move. It was very scarey at the time, and i still remember the way i felt vividly. I have had the same feeling after waking up twice since, and sometimes when i am drifing off to sleep i have a similar swollen feeling in my limbs and i freak out and wake myself up. What could all this mean? Jax

Dear Jax,Wow! What caring and loving parents you have!!! I am not an authority on dreams, but perhaps you had been astral travelling somewhere, but you weren't back in your physical body properly yet. It must be a horrible feeling to think you are all swollen and can't move!! Hope you find the answer to your question so you don't have to go through this experience anymore!! Love and Peace, Sunmeadow Glades. IP: Logged |

Welcome, jjjax!I think Sunmeadow Glades is close to the answer. Not a dream, but definately a feeling! This sort of sensation can be felt when the astral is not completely in line with the physical. Or rather you are feeling more of the astral body at the moment, which extends a bit beyond the physical parameters of the body, and feeling less of the physical body. When we are aware at this point (which we are usually not) paralysis, heaviness, and sometimes a feeling of largeness, can often be sensed. If you can ever get used to it, this sensation can lead you into other states of being. Thanks for sharing that! IP: Logged |

I can't relate to the feeling of not beeing able to move, but this swollen feeling is very familiar. When I was a child, it always took me long to fall asleep (I remember lying in the dark and listening to the breathing of my brother). Almost every night I had this feeling before falling asleep of my body expanding, getting bigger. The "swollen part" would feel somehow lighter than the rest of my body. I still get this sensation from time to time, if I lie awake very relaxed for a while before falling asleep. Now that I'm trying for out of body experience I try to recreate this feeling, because when having this sensation I know I'm right there between being asleep and being awake...IP: Logged |

Ok this is really interesting. Thanx so very much for all your replies. Yes Sunmeadow Glades my parents are very caring, im lucky to have them. Astral Travel? Hmmm wow.stella polaris it sounds like we get a similar feeling but not quite the same. It does feel like a light feeling in terms of numbness that i feel, but its deffinately not light, i feel very heavy and swollen. Ra, I understand how this feeling could be related to astral and physical not realining properly. But why would my mind be telling me i couldnt move? You really think that this feeling is something i could harness and make use of? I find it so hard to explain the feeling, its unlike anything, it very strange and i really dont like the way it feels. Its only ever happened a handful of times, perhaps if i ever feel it again, instead of forcing myself to wake up i should just let it be? Thanx everyone. Jax IP: Logged |

You cannot move because of something called sleep paralysis, which everyone experiences when we sleep. It is what keeps us from running around in our rooms while we are dreaming of running down the street! We are usually not aware of this paralysis, but occasionally, when we awaken, or partially awaken, we experience it. It can be quite disconcerting, but it is not harmful. This sensation is part of the process in meditation/relaxation which they call "mind awake, body asleep" and can lead you into altered states. You can definately harness this. IP: Logged |

Thoughts about projecting? Yeah, many!I highly recommend it! It can change the way you see reality, and make you aware of the multidimensional being that you really are. There is so much! Happy travels! IP: Logged |
