The other night, my alarm went off while I was towards the end of a dream. I spent the day thinking how much I would like to know how that dream ends. The next night, as I was dreaming, I somehow "found" the dream from the night before and I knew I was dreaming within the dream and allowed the dream to play out.

Is this the start of lucid dreaming or something else?

Isn't a lucid dream a dream where you know that you are dreaming? So that must be it, Hopeful!
I have this very irritating habit in my dreams. I know I'm dreaming, so I start analyzing my dream while still dreaming. Of course, I come up with some really brilliant interpretations. But then when I wake up, I've forgotten both the dream and the interpretation, as I sort of finished with it in the dream and went on to new adventures...

Hi stella - yes, I believe that is right...in a lucid dream you'll know you are dreaming. But I think that there is more to it - that you can start to direct the dream and perhaps, in so doing, direct some path in your life? I'm on shaky ground here, so I appreciate any input!

Hello Hopeful,

Firstly, what a pleasure to meet you...I read your lexi for Jakie and since then have tried to visit your forum more often tried being the operative word ... in anyway it is very loving energy you guys have in there

Now to your lucid dream...a big yes...and as I read your experience I can visualize you as a maiden drifting on the banks of a lake from one realm to the other, under the moonlight! Sorry the romantic me had to share that with you,

When you said you let the dream play out, were you satisfied with that ending when you woke up?

Maybe not since I read in your second post you are feeling angst!
Since there is obviously something your Higher Self wants you to work on, something is troubling you, you had a lucid dream without even knowing it at the time, right!
You are able to revisit this dream, this experience as often as you need to, so I would say in your conscious state, throughout the day focus on what it is you want to accomplish in this dream from the other night, or where you want to be led to and you will be able to take yourself there.

You have been shown with this lucid dreaming that you are completely in control of the direction you are taking with regards to the content of that dream. So don't be afraid Hopeful, you will be shown all you need to know...trust yourself in your sleeping state, you are guiding your own self, this is very good!
I feel this is wonderful and healing for you and you are well advanced in your journey now to be able to direct your life for your highest good. I have only good feelings with your experience and they are very light, can you understand that?

A big guiding hug to you Hopeful

Mystique - thank you for your warm and thoughtful post! It's nice to hear when others enjoy the Lexigram Forum. I genuinely enjoy giving something back to the Uni-verse.

I will continue to try and work with my dreams. You are correct that the dream has not "played" to its ending...perhaps because I am not sure of the ending? Are there certain questions to ask one's sELF when inside the dream? I know I have a book on dreaming (which is not a big surprise since I'm always reading!), but I'm not sure it addressed lucidity very well. I'll have to find it...

Thank you for sharing your feelings. I have been feeling more at peace lately...lighter...and I will continue to try and grow more and more Light.

You can try with the small things first. Tell yourself tonight I'll dream about a flower, or walking in a park.
I often say to myself "tonight I want a plaesant dream, please", with no specifications, and get something nice and funny that cheer me up.

You are right, Hopeful - this was the start of a lucid dream. We occasionaly become aware that we are dreaming, only to recognize this while the dream continues on its own course. So, you are also right that a fully lucid dream involves consciously directing it, which can be a spring-board for any number of wonderful experiences!

Okay, so within a lucid dream, what is the result of attempting to direct it? Does it affect reality? Is there an impact on real life?

Ra - thanks for taking the time to respond! I know you have much going on right now!!

Hello Hopeful,
Okay so you are not yet aware of how you want this dream to end? That is why you did not play it out completely...shows you are not ready for the next step yet.
Firstly understand the concept of your dream. Since I don't know the content lets say for example it is about a job interview...uuuuhhh no forget that example...lets say it is about a relationship. One of the wonders of lucid dreaming is that you feel you are consciously directing your "movie". You are aware of yourself playing that role in the "movie". So if in this relationship you are seeing in your dream, you are unhappy about something, you have the ability in this state to resolve it. In your awake state you know what you want to resolve, its on your mind, in your thoughts, maybe worrying you but you are not sure how to go about resolving it...so when you re-enter that state in your sleep you will know what you want to resolve and how...that is your intent before you close your eyes, so you will do it, your conscious mind will be at rest so that you can work more closely with your soul's message...you WILL play it out, since you are not inundated with the waking state distractions.
Maybe it does not happen immediately but work with these steps and know your intent for yourself..in your reality (waking reality) and you will play out your dream when you go to sleep...and yes it will in turn affect your life the way you want it to and of course the way your soul wants you to!

I have faith in you Hopeful and you will be just fine...you will see

Have you seen Vanilla Sky? I watched it on video last night, and probably influenced by the film and the discussion here, I had a lucid dream that really made me laughh...But first: After the film I went to bed and had just fallen asleep when my husband came to bed. He was freezing cold and moved close to me to get warm, which woke me up and made me really irritated...He just falls asleep, so I move over to the edge of my side of the bed, to stay warm. And then I dream: My husband comes into bed, is freezing cold and then in my dream I think, this is a lucid dream, I can change this, and I ask him to get warm and move over to his side of bed and turn around, so I can warm myself on his back..Which he does, happily, and I put my arms around him and get warm...
and bam! I wake up because I almost fell out of bed...Guess who spent the night in the guestroom...

It is much as Mystique said. This can be a way for working out scenarios you are encountering in waking life. On the more entertaining side, any fantasy you wish to experience, you may do so. But there is so much more!

You may end the dreaming experience and astrally project. This is where it really gets interesting, and this is where reality is affected. But the effect is only subjective, as the reality you experience will colour the way in which you see things.

In this state, you will be able to travel anywhere, in any time, restricted only by the limitations you place upon yourself. Have you ever been to Paris? ... to Antarctica? ... to Jupiter? ... to Sirius? Have you ever wanted to see America during the Revolution? ... or witness the Kennedy assassination? ... or the Roswell incident? ... or see Atlantis for yourself? ... or see what the dinosaurs really looked like? Or maybe you would like to experince the energy of Christ. Or God.

All of these things are possible, and so much more. Any sort of real experience, especially if you can get consistant results, will change you from the inside out.

It is all just so fascinating!

Greetings all...

Ra... what you said about Lucid Dreaming as a springboard to Astral Projection... you ain't just whistlin' Dixie there laddybuck!

Often when I am dreaming.. I will suddenly remember that I have magical powers or that I can fly.. yep, just me, no broom, no carpet, no airplane.. just me and my not always graceful Superman-esque takeoffs!

Often I can manipulate my dreaming, but as yet have not recalled using it for the purpose of "going places or Times". I'll have to try that! Thanks for the idea... Hell if I can "remember" my powers and ability to fly, I should be able to travel astrally that way.

I have had many, many occasions where I'll wake up feeling myself falling... not like a falling dream, but like I'm physically going to roll off the bed or the couch as I'm waking up... I often think this is "coming back into my body" too fast, but then I can't seem to recall the dreams just prior to awakening that way... and I'm never anywhere near the edge of the bed or the couch... usually I get a chuckle out of this, but then wind up feeling "not quite right" for several hours.. like things are trying to get back into phase. Make any sense?

I also have had many dreams where Angels will come to me... often in the guise of the Touched By An Angel cast members, which is kinda fun. And in those dreams I am often as not an Angel meself.

I had a great dream where the Angels of TBAA were there, but it was Christmas time in the dream, and there were many lovely cherub angels... not the goofy ones that remind me of see no evil, hear no evil have no fun.. (you know, that famous cherub painting that people are always trying to foist off on shirts and mugs and such.) These cherubs were beautiful, human babies with beautiful innocent eyes and huggy-kissy kind of natures. Very sweet!

OK, now I'm rambling, so I'm going to stop.. but thanks for the ideas on Lucid Dreaming... I'll try it out and let ya know what happens!

May Light be extended upon you...

A

stella - interesting dream you had there! I did see Vanilla Sky and thought it was quite interesting.

Mystique - Ra - Aselzion - what you have said amazes me! I am fascinated and will continue to explore the dream world.

As for the dream that started all this, it has helped me to resolve a situation in real life. Yes Mystique - it was a relationship. (No Ra - not the Sag).

I've been so busy and so overwhelmed lately, I have felt stymied on my Path. This string is motivating me to start moving forward once again.

I'd love to hear more experiences about lucid dreaming - has anyone had conversations with their Higher sELF this way?

Hopeful
