Can anyone tell me why I am always dreaming about earthquakes and floods?

Last night (today, I sleep in the daytime) I had a dream that I was in a party in the head of the Statue of Liberty. (I have never been to the Statue of Liberty so I don't know if you can go in the head or not.)There was a 360 degree view of New York.

I remember an earthquake and watching the building (it became an office building) collapse underneath me. I remember the screaming and the sound and people dieing. I survived but as I was wandering through the rubble and looking for my family, I was suddenly amongst the ruins of the WTC.

This dream was so vivid that I woke up screaming ... you know those screams you have when you are so scared that the screams aren't actually able to surface?

Any feed back? I am always dreaming about floods or earthquakes.

Love and Light,

Heidi

Hello Heidi.

When did these dreams begin?

I would guess that there was some time in your life (just before the beginning of these dreams) when you felt very free, happy, "on top of the world", and "liberated" (Statue of Liberty) - but then the bottom fell out. Something happened that shook up your world (earthquakes), caused a great deal of emotional distress (floods), and left you feeling lost.

So what happened? You have obviously "survived" it, but the experience certainly made a great impact upon your subconscious.

Does this make sense?

Hello Ra,

I have been having these dreams since I was a child. And for some reason in most of them I am trying to save someone, either my family or my animals.

I never thought of dreams as a result of something that occured in the past. I have always thought of them as precognitive.

I wish I could say there was a happy time in my life but unfortunately even as a child I suffered from depression, so I don't really know if I can say there is anything significant that I have survived.

Any other ideas?

Heidi

It is yourSelf that you are trying to save.

For the vast majority of people, dreams are symbolic of past or present events/situations/thoughts, and rarely precognitive. Since this dream theme is a recurring one since childhood, I would say that it is a representation of the depression you have felt from those times.

The party and the "liberation" that I alluded to before is perhaps something you wish to experience very much, but always encounter the destruction caused by the depression. You ask yourself "why can I not ever be truly happy?" Something seems to always thwart your happiness.

So, something seems to always shake up your world (earthquakes), and there is the overcoming of you by emotion/depression (floods).

Did you feel alone as a child?

Did you feel abandoned in some way?

Did you lack emotional comfort?

The roots of these dreams are deep, and could even extend into a past-life.

You say, "I don't really know if I can say there is anything significant that I have survived", but you have. You have survived the bouts of depresion throughout your life, and if you pursue these dreams, you WILL overcome this. Your subconscious has been expressing these feelings for a long time. Think about the dreams, feel them, write down what it is you wish to learn from them, ask your Mind HOW to overcome and release this energy. Review these things before you sleep, and ask yourSelf for an answer - it will come. Write down your dreams after awakening, and an answer will eventually be presented.

Peace to you Heidi.

Ra,

I had another earthquake dream the other night. They are so realistic that they are beginning to disturb me.

This time I was in Los Angeles, I was in one of three very tall office buildings and it started to shake. I left the building knowing that my family and my cats were still inside. As I stood outside the building I watched in horror as these three huge office buildings all began to collapse.

My family and my cats got out of the collapsed building OK but the noise of the collapsing building and the screaming was horrible.

In the second part of my dream I was riding a bicycle trying to find a friends house. I had almost nothing on and I remember that I had no sense of direction and that no matter how I tried to find my friends house, I couldn't and I remember riding around for hours and being totally lost and the panic that set in because I was completely confused.

I then reached my friend's house and he kept yelling at me saying "Don't call me your boyfriend, I don't want a girlfriend, you're not my girlfriend."

I ran into a bathroom to cry and then his room mate started banging on the door, telling me never to use his bathroom. I just remember feeling so degraded by the whole situation.

I was really upset the whole day after this dream. Is this more about me trying to save myself?

Hello Heidi

To me, both of these dreams feel like reflections of some very old, very negative, emotional and psychological patterns.

The first one suggests upheaval within your inner life, and the way that you feel that any order in your life continually collapses. I think your family getting out indicates that the source of your inner turmoil still exists - your pain stems from family issues early in life that still "live" within you.

The second dream seems to simply elaborate upon the specifics of your inner conflict. You feel you are alone, on your own (riding bicycle). You feel exposed and insecure (almost nothing on) which adds to a sense of no direction in life and an identity crisis (friend yelling at you). The words that the friend yells at you feel to me like an echo of words from the past. Did someone, perhaps a family member (probably male), tell you similar things, making you feel unworthy?

The bathroom is a symbol of unconscious forces and of purging/cleansing. This scene reflects the emotions that you feel which stem from your unconscious. It again indicates that this feeling of degredation, of being unwanted, unloved, and lost has it's roots in an experience from your past that has been pushed into your unconscious self, and expresses itself through your self-image.

But Heidi, even amidst all of this seemingly negative symbology, there is hope. Many of these symbols have a dual meaning. It is suggested that your consciousness is undergoing a great deal of healing on some level, making ready for a change in some aspect of your psychological makeup - for the better. These dual symbols include the number three (new psychological process), cats/family surviving (undeveloped aspects of self surviving for future growth), riding the bicycle (independence/your own power), bathroom (cleansing/purging), and crying (emotional release/cleansing).

All of these taken together suggest that you ARE going to make it, and that something new IS beginning. You may have to do it alone (but not necessarily!) but you CAN do it, and you will find a great deal of inner strength in the process. The earthquakes WILL stop and you WILL find peace.

Lying just beneath the blacks and greys of your aura is a beautiful energy - I can feel it, and I know others can as well. The experiences of your past will serve you in ways that can build in you a strength that many do not possess - all you have to do is see it within yourself - IT IS THERE - and project it upon those who would cause you pain/distress.

It may take a storm of tears to manifest your inner rainbow, but you have the ability to do it, and your Higher Self is making for the preparations.

You are a beautiful person, Heidi - your energy does not lie - I can feel it - you are worthy and deserving of all that life has to offer. Anyone who tells you different is only projecting their own self-image upon you.

Thank you Ra. Everything you have said makes so much sense. I would really like to elaborate but I don't want to post in on a public forum. It seems you know me very well.

Thank you for the kind words. I really need them right now.

I do not know you at all, Heidi. But I do know what I feel, and the dreams do give me a glimpse into a deeper part of you. I am glad to listen.

Elaborate as much as you want, whenever you want:

Hello Ra,

Thanks for asking about me. That was very kind of you. I am doing OK and I will definitely write to you soon. There are some things that I want to talk to you about that I don't want to post.

Love and Light,

Heidi

You popped into my head a few times the last couple of days - just wondering how you are. No need to rush to write.

Heidi, so do you! Is it not going through?

If not, my message was simple - you have done no harm, you are very much blameless, and your questions were certainly valid. Have no worry about it! (the 'problem' was with others)

Hello Ra,

Thank you. No I did not get any email from you. I get it from everyone else though. It sounds like the problem is at your end Ra. Maybe Randall can check it out.

Thanks again for answering my question.

Ra, if you are receiving the e-mails, then everything is good on my end.
