It's so great to feel that warm and comfortable for/around another person ! Although Im not sure that you will stop having these dreams until you completely are at peace with the situation. Try this..
On the next full moon (June 14th) starting on the first night thru the third night, lite an Indigo candle, and sleep with it next to your bed (be safe) but as you are dozing off to sleep think about the situation with this person and whatever questions you need resolved will come to you in your dreams. I will be doing this very thing as I also need some answers

My conscious bit has seen the situation, assessed it, and decided to step away -
why can't my subconscious mind take the hint?

I mean, is the latter simply seeing "more", and acting on those cues, or is it just being irrational & going off to do its own thing?

I was wondering, is there a reason you're resisting this so much? Because sometimes too much resistance only helps to get you all tied up in knots.

Are you not ready for a relationship at this point? Are you just scared of being in one or are you enjoying being on your own? Is it him you don't want to be with, or is it something you need to work out?

It's just that getting with him really seems to be bothering you, but I'm not exactly clear on why. You're usually very descriptive about your feelings, but you're just not coming through on this one for some reason, and that's not like you.
