This is my first time posting in this area, but with what my daughter just told me and with her permission, I was compelled to share this. First, a little background:

As I posted under another thread in Health and Healing, my daughter found out a couple of weeks ago that she has a 7 centimeter cyst on her left ovary and yesterday at the Dr.'s arrangements were made for her to have surgery on July 31st. We are worried of course...and to compound things my younger daughter is just now recovering from the very same surgery, for the same problem...only her cyst was gigantic. Anyway...younger daughter is fine and healing nicely. So now, we are faced with this all over again with my older daughter.

Okay...so last night she had this dream: She was running through a cemetery in the dark. It was summer like now, but she was cold. She described to me the outfit she was wearing, something she presently has in her wardrobe. Eventually she was drawn to a particular spot of ground that looked like a "sloppy grave" (her words). Something told her to dig through this dirt pile, so she came down on her knees and began digging with her hands. She said she could see her hands in front of her, digging. Soon...she realized she was uncovering a corpse...HER!!! She saw HERSELF, wearing the exact same outfit that she, as the "digger", had on. Other than the horror of finding herself in a grave, 2 points upset her in particular. #1: It seemed to her she was just "thrown in" this grave...no casket, no prepared, pre-dug grave...just her in the dirt. #2: She recognized herself in this "corpse", but noticed that it was not recent but partially decayed. It was so horrible that she awoke crying.

So...she's telling me this, and I am freaking out inside myself, given what is going on in her life right now. But I was careful to tell her that usually when one has a dream of death/dying it is usually symbolic of something in one's life that is ending/changing. That's as far as our conversation got because she had to leave for work, but I told her about this section of Lindaland and got her permission to post her dream in hopes of learning some possible insights on its meaning to help her (us, really) understand it in a less terrifying way. Just please don't tell me this is some kind of premonition, okay? BTW...she is a Gemini with a Pisces Moon and Scorpio Ascendant, and she has a history of dreams of the disturbing kind. Thanks for any input to help us sort this out.

This is not some sort of premonition.

Hello, Twin Lady - thank you for visiting the Astral Realms forum! Welcome!

What you told your daughter about death/dying is absolutely correct, and this dream is certainly all about that.

Surgery can be quite an emotional event, eliciting all sorts of anxieties and fears, and this is what is represented in this dream.

Really, there are at least two areas to this symbology. The first is what you said - change/transition/ending. Her body is going to be changed.

The second area has to do with her anxieties concerning this change. The symbols are classic. There are "dark" emotions anent this change (running through cemetery in dark/feels cold). She feels unprepared, as if she has just been "thrown into" this situation ("sloppy grave"/body and grave unprepared, etc.). She wants out of this situation (seeing herself in grave). These feelings are deeply seated within her consciousness (dirt/ground), and she is being forced to deal with them, to "handle" them (digging with hands).

Unconscious energy/emotion that is suddenly brought into conscious awareness is often very difficult to handle, and dreams like this are typical subconscious responses. This is a "grave" situation from her perspective, and understandably so.

I hope this helps.

Reassure her that all is well, and look to the younger sister's experience as a positive example.

Also, have her pay attention to upcoming dreams for further messages. If her fears/anxieties about this are at all calmed, she may look forward to dreams containing symbols of growth, fertility, healing, and positive change.

Thank you SO MUCH! Your interpretation makes a lot of sense. I'll be certain that my daughter reads your post and I know she will be reassured, as I am. You have been a big help!

I have my share of dreams too, so maybe I'll post a couple here now and then. Thanks again; your time and attention to this means a lot.

Just wanted to let you know that my daughter read your dream interpretation and says thank you. While she's still scared, she isn't as "creeped out" (her words) as she had been after first having such a morbid dream. Thanks again.

Could there be other possibilities that her daughter is a Gemini as well or maybe that this is to do with the fact that her sister had the same problem?

Just a couple of thoughts...

I wonder too if her feelings about her tumour were represented by the decaying corpse... it must be tough waiting for a procedure when you know that something in your body is unhealthy, sort of "gone bad".

Unlike terror, horror is rooted in what happens when the body goes "wrong". Ask your daughter to think of all the horror movies she's seen -- from Frankenstein to Stephen King, they're rooted in a fear of something happening to our physical body. No wonder she set her fears in a cemetery! That's a horror classic! Tell her for me that she's one smart cookie.

best,

ozone, I am not exactly sure what you mean. But there are certainly other possibilities!

Lunargirl, you are absolutely correct about the decaying body.
