A friend of mine had a dream a few nights ago and I am curious as to what you all think about it. Here it is in his own words: i'm riding on a dolphin through clear shallow water, and it stops and i look down and i see this huge shark about 30 feet below me, it looks at me and swims up toward me, but as it approaches it gets smaller, by the time it is upon me it is only like 3 feet long, i throw a punch at it and it engulfs my hand and bites down around the wrist, breaking the skin and cutting the flesh but not breaking the bone, then i kick it and it lets go, but i'm bleeding profusely, the dolphin takes me to the shore and a woman is there and i go to her for help, she pulls out a lighter and cauterizes my wound and in my dream i start screaming and i actually wake up still yelling. Any thoughts? IP: Logged |

Sounds very significant. Wish I were better at this. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

me too...there seems to be a lot of symbolization like dolphin, shark, wrist, etc. but It is hard to piece together, to get the big picture of what the dream is trying to bring to his attention. IP: Logged |

Hello hooked!Dolphins often hold some sort of spiritual message. I would say that there is some situation or other energy, perhaps emotional or from the unconscious (ocean/water), that is being presented to your friend in the guise of a threat (shark) but which is truly a lesson from a spiritual standpoint. The situation at first seems to be large and threatening, but as it grows nearer, and if your friend maintains a spiritual outlook, the perceived threat becomes smaller and less "painful" to manage. Perhaps the situation (shark) is presenting a lesson on how to properly "handle" certain energies, perhaps a lesson in flexiblity (wrist). Holding on to a higher understanding (dolphin) will minimize the potential damage caused by such experience, although there may still be pain in the healing of it. There is something of a message in the woman on the shore. She could be symbolic of the use of feminine forces, such as intuition, feeling, or creativity, for the healing of self and learning of the lesson. So, your friend may feel as if he/she is getting burned, but this is much better than loosing one's hand. What situation is looming in the waters of your friend's mind that feels threatening?
