While hanging out with a freind of mine last night he told me about this dream he had involing a big giant black "shadow". He says he often sees this shadow in many of his dreams, each time taking on a different form or size and shape.

Unfortinatly I couldnt make much of anything out from what he told me. I only know its some preety cool stuff.

In his own words Im going to let him type out what he remembers=

what up?

so here it goes. I'm outside, or in a big clearing and im talking to this formless huge black thing that was there and not there. it was nutty, anyway im talking to him about what happened to me getting poison ivy and how much it hurt and itched and then he got really angry and screamed out this name in a really angry mad rage "Morgoth Bauglir," as he said it rolled over the hills around and was really scary, I was happy at the time to have been on his side. and then he ran away like a warrior, going off to wage war against aggressors opressing a free people, with real fervor. Next all this noise and a type of good-badness happens and then it goes really strange after the big shaddowy gent runs in pursuit. First it gets really quite again then all around me poison ivy starts to grow and gets closer and closer it starts intertwining and growing together and then forms a type of dome and the roots and leaves and bark crystalize over and form like an upside down bowl so now im stuck in this thing and im like "holy cow" the dome starts to turn into a house then and the house is on fire in some places and it's burnt and wet and leaking and really screwed up so i think it's haunted and i try to get out. Now im wandering around and there are people there but i don't know them so i try not to get in there way. Finally I make my way out and as im leaving i see on the wall right before this door a pinwheel and its spinning very slowly like hypnotizing but i just look at it and im like wow thats cool and i walk out so when i walk out i turn around and start kicking the house and ripping pieces off of the roof. I get all my anger out and i turn around and there are three young people one was a girl i know and the other two i couldn't focus on and they were cheering me on and jumping with joy at me breaking the house. I don't remember anything else, thats it, the end, hope it makes sence.

Hello Magus of Music, and friend

The formless, shadowy figure is a classic symbol for the shadow aspect of self. You are "on his side" because he is a side of you! It represents a part of you that you do ont recognize, or do not want to recognize. It can be either positive or negative - but unrecognized or unconscious. Your shadow seemes to contain both positve and negative energies (good-badness happens), reflecting a part of you that is feeling trapped (aggressors oppressing a free people/ivy forming dome over you) but which, if freed or recognized, has great strength (warrior/wage war against aggressors). When you are not feeling this strength (shadow figure runs off), there is some situation in waking life that begins to creep in on you (ivy), surrounding and enclosing you. This situation is smothering, poisonous/toxic, and exerts a generally negative force upon you (poison ivy). You feel trapped by it, and it has had a great effect upon your psyche (haunted house). Your mind "burns" because of it (fire), causing anger and a desire to avoid it/escape it/destroy it.

The question is, what is it? It is probably relationship or work/school related, but could be some other situation.

The end of this dream makes suggestions of a way out. In order to leave your troubled mind behind (screwed up house) it is suggested that perhaps you need to attune yourself to balance (hypnotic pinwheel), or at least recognize that balance can lead you out he door. Doing so will necessitate a release of emotion - anger - (tearing up house/get anger out), at which time you will begin to have a new understanding, a new thought process, as is indicated by the number three (three people outside cheering), concerning what was/is bothering you. You will destroy the old pattern, and begin anew.

Does any of this make sense?

Whats going on Ra? Thank you again for this.

Just give me a few days to find him, I just started an overnight job so I havent had to much time lately to hang out.

As always it seems to make perfect sence.

"Morgoth Bauglir"! When he was telling me this dream the nght before we put up this post I asked him where he thinks his subconcios got that from. He said its a phrase one of the leaders in Saurons army shouted in the Lord of the Rings movie. Cool it is how the mind uses the sillyest little things in dreams.
