Recurring dreams always have something to say.

A few questions:

Does the dream recur this way each time, with the same details?

Since you were six?! What was going on in your life when you were six that made you feel scared and trapped? When did your father and mother part?

When was the last time you had this dream?

It will be a couple of days before I can really have a look at the symbols, but I will have a look!

Yes, the details are ALWAYS the same, its like watching the same TV program and feeling the same things except whilst I'm in the dream, it always feels like the first time!! I never think, 'oh no, not this again!!'
My Mum left my Dad when I was 4.

I can't really remember what was happening when I was six, we have moved a couple of times though, at that stage we were living near my Mums parents who were really unsupportive of my mother and although they were quite nice people, they could be very nasty, especially my Mums mother.
I remember I was doing ballet classes, that I liked my school except I found it quite hard, and I had some good friends.
I can't remember anything else but when you do your interpretation of the symbols I might recall something!!!

My thoughts on this are not too complex, and the symbology does not appear to be too complicated - at least from my limited perspective.

The dream reflects a situation in which you feel a lack of control (in back seat) and perhaps an initial lack or loss of support (mother gets out). There is much symbolism concerning the dread, threat, and fear that this situation makes you feel (dark woods, sinister farmer, mean dogs). But it seems to be indicated that you inevitably take control (get in front seat/lock doors) and are able to steer clear of the threatening situation (car rolls away).

Because the symbols in this dream were set when you were young, there is probably a difference between the original stress that initiated this dream, and more current stresses that now bring it back up - so it is probably not a particular situation that causes this dream to recur, but a particular emotion/s.

As for the original cause of the dream, I can only take a guess by looking at the symbols. It could be that when you were very young, there was some situation in which you felt that both you and your brother were at risk of having the relationship with your mother disrupted. Perhaps you felt that she was associating with someone or doing something that threatened your security. As a child you saw this other person or situation as something bad/evil, and felt as if you had to fend for yourself because your mum did not see the bad part of it.

In more recent times, whenever you feel the stress of being insecure or threatened or trapped in a bad situation, you have this dream.

Does any of this make sense to you? If not, I am sure we can find an alternative.
