The sun was going down and I wanted to see what was going on over there. There were lots of people and some of it was like a typical NYC street fair but with a lot more beer. There was a display at one point with a lot of black and white photos in photoalbums from the war. I stopped to look at those. I flipped through one really slowly. Everyone else seemed to flip through everything quickly and didn't really pay attention. There were a lot of pictures of children going off to camps and I just started crying and was upset.

I looked up at this rack of old vintage clothing that was being sold and there was a jacket from a German uniform being sold. I went over and was looking at it. It was thick and had a detachable section underneath that was black and could be used for extra warmth. I could see the soldier wearing it suddenly and he was so cold with all the snow around them and the ground was hard in the trenches around him.

I bought the coat. It was only $5. And I wore it even though it wasn't that cold.

I stopped into a convenience store which was stocked with German and Japanese products for the festival. I was especially fascinated with some brand of German bread and Japanese soy ice cream.

The first time I read this dream I got only emotional impressions - whether from you or me I don't know - and did not see much of the symbolism. Oktoberfest/WWII memorial in NYC? By Christopher street? Those three symbols now speak volumes and succinctly wrap up the meaning of the entire dream.

I could simply state that this dream is about inner development/exploration concerniong your life in Nazi Germany and how it connects with you now, but that will just not do! This dream is a perfect example of how the subconscious mind can compact so much meaning into a few simple images, so I must go into some of the detail. My explanation will no doubt be far longer than your dream.

New York City ~~ you have so many connections with it psychologically ... it symbolizes your mind, the structure of it, it's psychology, the known and unknown parts of it.

Why the combined memorial? Memorial = memory; Oktoberfest = Germany; and WWII ... Nazi Germany past-life energies, of course.

Christopher street? ~~ No coincidence to be sure ... the name begins with Christ. Now, I am thinking in terms of Christ energy rather than Jesus the Christ, as I believe your subconscious mind is relaying it this way. From this viewpoint, we are talking about personal transformation ... okay ... I can say it no better than Sandra Thomson who says this, "Christ is an archetypal figure who represents the questions we all seek to answer; the process towards understanding the nature of life, our relationship with the cosmos or the unknown divine, and our ultimate destiny. He is the Great Wisdom figure who initiates us into a higher realm of inner development/individuation. He can represent the union of cosmic consciousness (the wisdom mysteries) with personal consciousness." Thomson is speaking about the symbol of Christ the man, Jesus, but it is easy to see the energies/forces he represents as the Christ energy. And after all, you are Wiccan (although with a Catholic background) so it is no surprise, and certainly appropriate, that Christ energy manifests symbolically rather than through Jesus ... Christopher Street is well appropriate!

So, your mind/psyche (NYC) plus transformative/developmental energies (Christopher street) plus Nazi Germany past-life energies (Oktoberfest/WWII memorial) reflects progress in your search, understanding, and reconciling of these past-life influences.

The rest of the dream confirms this premise. I'll just touch on the remaining symbols as their meanings within the dream will be evident.

sun going down - often symbolizes the ending of a cycle, but in this case symbolizes the beginning of associations with the collective, or your personal unconscious, especially in conjunction with the city.

As usual you've blown my socks off. Blown them totally off! It's amazing to me how you see things that I am at a loss with. Or you take things to another level I might not think of. I don't know how you do it. Although it was an emotional dream for me and I spotted some of the blatantly obvious symbolism, there was so much I wouldn't have thought twice about or would have dismissed as unimportant that you show whole new meaning for.

I was at the Alphaville show but instead of being in Berlin it was in New York City. It was evening and the show was over but Marian was doing a sort of 'meet and greet' type thing with some fans. There was a long line of people waiting for him to sign an 8x10 photo. I decided to wait online. I was pretty excited and happy about it. As I got closer to the front of the line I noticed a big guy that was working security. He was bald, tall, and BIG. He was dressed in head to toe dark grey in a coat-like thing that went to the floor and was closed all the way up the front. Like something Uncle Fester would wear, actually, so I'll call him Fester because I don't remember his dream name. He was giving everyone the 8x10's and telling everyone the 'rules'. We couldn't ask him to sign anything else. In fact, we couldn't even speak to him. We had to put the picture in front of him to sign and move on immediately when he was done.

This guy was really mean. Not just unpleasent but MEAN. And to top it off he disliked me even more than the other fans immediately. He was glaring at me and kept telling me "You better not talk to him. You better not step to close. You better not talk to him or else. I'll ban you from everything" etc etc. He was really intimidating.

Finally I got to Marian and that was peculiar. He wasn't looking at anyone. He was looking down the whole time like in the postcard I got a couple days ago. He seemed to be in "Let's get this over with" mode. He would sign the picture and slip it back without even looking up at the fan. He did the same for mine which was okay with me because I just figured he was tired and felt bad for him. BUt as I was stepping away Fester decided to step forward and try to intimidate me again. I don't remember what he whispered to me but it was some sort of personal insult and really that was the last straw. I don't like to be pushed around.

So I went to the management of the venue and spoke with them about it. Told them Fester was really truly mean and unnecessarily rude to patrons. They said they would do something about it but I wasn't sure. As I was walking out I spotted Marian again. He was done signing and leaving for the night. He was slipping on his black coat. I approached him and Fester was in the background just glaring at me like a guard dog but he didn't dare to say anything to me in front of Marian so he disappeared. I tole Marian I was really sorry to bother him because that was the last thing I wanted to do. I told him I'd leave him alone normally because I could tell he was tired but wanted him to know there was a member of his staff that was really evil and mean to the fans. Marian seemed to be in some sort of a fog still - trying to snap out of the state he was in while he was signing things earlier but the fog was slowly clearing. He asked me to walk with him so I did and he asked for details about the staff member and I elaborated. We left the venue and were walking along the city streets which were almost empty. He was shaking his head as he listened to my story - unhappy with Fester.

He apologized for Fester's behavior and stopped and looked at me for the first time, finally out of his fog. He said he wanted to talk to me. Well okay I was happy about that! But suddenly a woman and an 8 or 9 year old boy pop up. Turns out the woman is his wife and the boy is his son. Strangely, Marian is ignoring her completely and I am wondering why. He's acting like she's not there at all. But he gives some attention to the boy, messes with the boy's hair, pats him on the head, etc. But once they show up he gets quiet again as though he is deep in thought.

I talk to the wife who really seems quite nice and friendly. The boy is wearing a SpongeBob tshirt and I recite some SpongeBOb names and tell him how my son LOVES SpongeBOb, too!

We all head into the subway to go home. Marian's still quiet, walking ahead of all of us, looking at the ground deep in thought, distracted. I worry they won't wait for me while I purchase my token with a bunch of change but they wait patiently just beyond the turnstyles. I catch up and we head further down to the platform. We had to take the 9 train.

It was a nice dream overall - Once Fester made me angry enough to stand up for myself. I think that... Marian seemed more 'real' in this dream if that makes sense. Slightly dissheveled hair, chubby lil' cheeks, etc.

I think some of the dream content is a reflection of the interaction you had with Alphaville's staff over the last few weeks, the way you felt about it. And some of the content appears to be wish fulfillment, but appearances can be deceiving, and I get the feeling there is a deeper significance to this dream. But this is only my feeling - I would much rather stick to the symbology. However, the symbols are just too easy and too basic and lead quickly to my first statements - reflection of interaction and wish fulfillment. So, yet again, you have forced me to venture beyond my comfort zone.

First, a question about Marian ... is he married, and does he have a son? I know he has a daughter.

Okay, now I am still not sure what your connection to Marian is, or on what level these dreams are taking place. I want to say that there is some measure of conscious intent on his part to communicate with you in this mysterious way, but this is a difficult position to take as it implies that he has an adeptness or mastery in this area - so I hesitate, but there is that feeling. That said, I will take the more "sensible" position that all of this is occuring on an un/subconscious level.

So, if the dream is more than mere fantasy and daily residue, then the message, to me, is clear ... he wants to communicate with you, but there are forces/issues/people/etc that keep him from doing so. Or conversely, if we are dealing strictly with the unconscious, you want to communicate with him, but there are circumstances that keep you from doing so. I don't know which.

One symbol I found interesting is the subway and number nine train. This could suggest "underground" or secret goings-on, the movement of energies just beneath the surface - and of course nine is a number of power and "triple completion", as well as "gestation" ...hmmm.

A very interesting dream. Guess we'll see how it all works out eventually.
