I was wondering what do cats represent in dreams? My dreams for the last week have been filled with cats, not to mention the odd quirk of them in my life suddenly. I love cats and kittens but I can't have one cause i'm terribly allergic to them unfortunatly. And its not like I have dreams of animals very often which is why I think this is sticking in my mind so much.

Any ideas from anyone? I have the first dream where they began to appear the rest have just been sorta like a popup here and there but enough for me to take notice of them.
wierd for me!
Thanks,
May

Generally, cats symbolize feminine energies of a "tame" or controlled nature - controlled instinctual energies close to conscious awareness.

Are you feeling more sexual lately? Creative? Receptive?

Hmm thats interesting. I dont know that I've really felt more that way at least not that I've realized it. Though now that I think about it I have felt more feminine of late. I tend to dream in masculine and I even feel more masculine then feminine but now that I'm thinking about it I suppose there has been a shift of late to more "girly" feelings in me.

Perhaps too I could use a bit more of the feminine side of myself these days as well, wonder if that might be what is driving this notice for me these days

Thanks Ra! Definitely got me thinking now

This would be about something that is a more recent manifestation, so I do not think it is about creativity since we all know that May has been creative for a while.

Increasing femininity feels right ~~ just a gentle nudge in that direction.

Oddly I haven't felt over creative for the last few weeks. On the flip side though I have wanted to be more girly LOL which I'm really thinking that is what's up with the cats in my dreams.

Though now that I've posted this they've stopped. How unfair I was starting to enjoy the non allergic varity of kitty LOL

Maybe it's because we tweezed your eyebrows and put make up on you when we went out!

There's an old belief, if I'm not mistaken, that a woman's power was in her hair. I think that's partly why, during the Inquisition, they shaved women accused of being witches completely. They would shave her whole body. Of course this also made it helpful when looking for the devil's 'mark'.

I was thinking samson and deliha but thats about the same thing as well.. that is if i get my fables correct LOL

doesnt deliha cut off samson's hair and he suddenly looses all this strength? and since I tend to think of myself as a more masculine being cutting my eyebrows and suddenly ont being creative ... well yeah ok im a nut but its just one of my funny thoughts in a day

Incidentally, in dream symbolism hair often represents the projection of thought, either analytical or creative.

I didnt realize that. Interesting, that would explain those dreams years and years ago then LOL. I used to have dreams of my hair choking me. It wasn't a pretty time in my life either. Thankfully I haven't had that in years!

Hi Mayfair!
Actually, I just dreamt of cats last night. I dreamt that there were many cats in cages and I was looking at them. I was feeling really sorry that they were caged up and thought I would buy as many as I could if only to set them free. Unfortunately, I did not have any money. My gaze then feel upon an orange-brown cat with extremely big and sad blues eyes. My heart just melt and I decided I would adopt it.

Hello neptune lady

Not feeling too feminine lately?

Intuition bogged down?

Some sort of "feminine energy" is locked up, caged, restricted ... what is it?

I have been thinking about it Ra. Actually, I think I have acted a little too "femininely" recently, if one can say that. After controlling my emotions about someone for many years, I finally told him how I felt about him and that I cared for him more than he thought I did. His reaction was to tell me that all I thought was only in my head. I feel ashamed of being so emotional and spontaneous, I guess.

on the subject of cat dreams:

last night i dreamed i was in my best friend from junior high's house and we were getting ready to go to the prom (and i couldnt decide what dress to wear), and someone was showing me a kitten (though he or she was large for a kitten) curled on her/his side and i was watching the little organs pumping/working, there didnt seem to really be any skin on the cat, or it was very very thin.

Cats are among the most common dreams animals, and often stand for intuitive feminine wisdom and the imaginative power of the unconscious.

Welcome butterflyeyes. ~~ You are exactly right about that.

Batgirl ~~ Are you closely examining something in waking life, trying to make a decision?

Ra, It seem to me you have alot of input on dreams. I have alot books on dreams and the outcome. Do you have some more suggestion on this information. I live in a library and the enternet. Ha-Ha like you couldn't see that.
