i'm new here and was going to try to hold off on posting til i could read more and get a feel for the board...but i'm just too excited and curious to know what you guys think about this (and saturn 7 question that i will post on the other forum).

a little background info first...i'm 27 years old, an american girl who's been living in japan since the end of february.
i had a dream several years ago in an asian language that i didn't understand at the time. it was...get this...subtitled. (i suspect now that it was japanese)
a year and a half ago, i visited japan and like it so much that i decided to move here. i moved almost a year after my first visit.
shortly after the visit, i had the following dream, in japanese. i knew very little japanese at the time...probably the basics that all of you would know arigato, kimono, etc.

i was in japan and was trying to go to a concert. the ticket takers told me that i needed my passport, but i didn't have it. i went on a frantic search looking for it. finally, i decided to go to the car to check my email (there was a computer in the car). i checked on a bulletin board and my friends were posting from inside the venue, asking where i was, because they knew where my passport was.
this is all in japanese, except that their nickname for me was "frog" in english. so they were saying things like "frog wa doko desu ka?" (where's frog?).
i woke up.

when i woke up, i decided to look up "frog" in a dream dictionary that i had and it translated it as "sincere friend" which i thought was pretty cool.
however, i told a friend of mine who speaks japanese this dream and she said "holy #$*@!!! do you know what the word for "frog" is in japanese??"
the word for frog in japanese is "kaeru". this has the same pronunciation as the verb which means "returning home".

i was reading the other post on this forum about bad reactions to the titanic, and fears of drowning. i have that same sense of panic when i think about the atomic bombing of hiroshima. i'm terrified to go there, even though i've heard such great things about the peace park from my friends. i fear that it may trigger intense past life memories.

anyway, what do you think about this dream. particularly, what do you think about dreaming in a foreign language, especially one that you are not fluent in. i have been dutifully studying japanese for about a year and a half. i'm progressing quite well, but i feel like the language is somewhere in my brain already. does anyone have thoughts on how to access it? or remember it?
thanks!!

It's nice to meet you.

I enjoyed hearing your dream. I'd love to hear more dreams from you. I have to addmit that I have never heard of a dream being subtitled before...very interesting!

thanks ra! i'd really appreciate it.

and irish eyes, i haven't really been having very interesting dreams lately. the one thing i've noticed is that i've been having "running" dreams where i'm running away from something. before, when i'd run in my dreams, i would always run really slow and it would be like i wasn't going very far considering how hard i was working...but now in my dreams i practically fly when i'm running. but i mostly contribute it to the fact that i've been doing a running training program. haha.

From all appearances, it does seem that you have "returned home". I've never heard a dream being subtitled! That information could have been stored away in your subconscious from this life, and it is quite possible that you can feel a deeper connection due to past-life expereince. I would guess that you have always been attracted to things Asian, including watching subtitled Asian films? It looks as if your sub/unconscious mind has been preparing you for your return. Fascinating. I couldn't tell you how to futher access this information, but you can always try to dream about it.

Thank you for sharing your unusual dream!
