I had a dream the other night and I thought maybe someone could help me figure out what it means...
I dreamt I was looking in a mirror, and immediately the image of my eyeball was enlarged. I was moving it around and then I started to see this piece of black underneath the top layer of my eyeball, I guess this is the top layer of skin, and i finally reached in and pulled this object out and it was a moth. It was a cream color with 2 black stripes on its wings. It was dead but still intact. I layed it on the sink and just looked at it.
I believe that in past dreams i have seen this same thing in my eye but I have never pulled it out before.
Pleas any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

You are welcome. The very core of this dream is about, very simply, unconscious material becoming conscious. You are becoming aware of something (looking at eye) about yourself (mirror) that has been lurking just beneath the surface of your awareness. Or, stated a bit differently, you have been "self reflecting", thinking about your inner nature (looking into eye), and discovering/uncovering some obstruction, something about yourself that you were not concerned about or aware of previously. Some bit of material from your unconscious (piece of black) is becoming conscious (eyeball) ... or perhaps you are beginning to understand something that eluded you before in some way. The moth is a lunar symbol, associated with the butterfly symbolically, but with the "night side" of it. Therefore, perhaps this unconscious material has to do with emotions, or cycles, or receptivity - something associated with the moon ... or perhaps "seeking the light", or being "blinded by the light" (as moths are typically self-destructive this way). Whatever this unconscious material/energy is, at least it appears that you are aware, or becoming aware, of it (looked at it on sink) ... and perhaps it is good that the moth was dead? A "dead issue"? Something removed and gone forever? Does any of this make sense? There are so many different ways to arrange the various elements in this dream that I am kind of shooting in the dark where any detail is concerned. So, what do you "see" now that you did not "see" before? ... also, how did you feel in the dream. That in itself can tell volumes. IP: Logged |

Wow, thanks you so much for the analysis...I never expected someone to take that much time to help me, I really appreciate it. Well, at this point, I'm not really sure what all of it means. I'm going to have to really reflect on what you've said and then think about my recent situations. I remember thinking in the dream when all this happened that I was kind of relieved that I finally removed what was in my eye, then I found it odd that it was a moth and then when I told my dad he acted like it wasn't a big deal. I just kept thinking am I the only one who thinks this is strange... Well I guess if I can come up with anything, I will let you know. Thanks Again! IP: Logged |
