A couple of weeks ago I had a dream with several different elements, but the stand-out to me were two little ducks. I mean, little ducks. They were each about the size of a cherry tomato! I liked them very much, but worried about their safety, as their size made them vulnerable. I held them in my hand.

Well, that's all that was really remembered about the ducks. But a few days later I was in a shop and saw a keychain, carved in India from a lightweight wood, perhaps balsa? It was in the shape of a duck, with many decorative holes that allowed you to peek inside the duck, where there was another tiny duck! The entire thing was carved from a single piece of wood. So of course I bought it. Sometimes we can recognize synchronicity! Whether we know the reasons for it or not.

And last night I dreamt of my life as though it were being shown as a slide show. Can't remember any of them, but each slide denoted a definite 'period' in my life. Pluto conjunct Asc., don'tcha know. I don't remember any of the slides 'cept the final one, in which I was very pretty, didn't really resemble the person who looks me in the mirror each a.m. But I was dressed in a sort of white Roman tunic, surrounded by beautiful white hanging flowers and lots of greenery, as though hanging from some sort of lattice or bough. I looked so serene and self-posessed...

I can't help but have faith that it is a portent of positive things to come.

Anyway Ra, I had wanted to share the duck story with you, and let you know that I have read your research on Mars (my darling ruling planet) with great interest.

I admire your gentle, wise ways very much.

Thank you. I admire your direct, wise ways very much. I'm glad you enjoy the Mars stuff ... if only I could call it my research. It is, of course, only a regurgitation of others' work ... but it is oh, so fascinating!

Ducks are creatures of both air and water, therefore representing a connection between the conscious (air) and unconscious (water). They are small for two reasons ... first, as you mentioned, it suggests vulnerability, and this is a reflection of some aspect of self. Second, small animals often suggest the emergence of unconscious material, which is also a meaning attributed to the duck, so we have this suggestion doubled within the one symbol. When animals are a pair, two, (regardless of size) this by itself can suggest the nearing of the emergence of unconscious material ... so the symbol, two tiny ducks, actually repeats three-fold the same meaning.

And you are "handling" them, protecting, nurturing, caring for them.

So, something emerging from your unconscious that you are beginning to become consciously aware of ... unconscious material often manifests through the emotions, but could also be related to a thought, idea, or even something buried from your past. Whatever it is, it appears to be something "positive", something you care about, have feelings for, or are willing to nurture, to "handle".

I know that is kind of vague, but has anything recently transpired in your life that may fit this rather amorphous mold?

Believe it or not, watching one's self as if in a movie or slide show can suggest the movement of unconscious energy into consciousness. Imagine that. Positive things to come indeed. The final slide suggests newness (or alchemically, 'new knowing'), awareness, Light (white) as well as growth and fertility (greenery). A blossoming of Self (white flowers) in some way that will show all the way through (white tunic).

Slides are sequential frozen moments, and I have a feeling that the slides you viewed had something to do with the experiences/events/happenings that all led to whatever is emerging within you or around you. It is as if you were seeing in retrospect how certain things tied together to produce a present event.

I have been working hard for the past two years towards a specific goal, that I hope will launch a positive change of direction in my life. I almost feel that I'm standing on the precipice right now, waiting to see which way the Winds of the Universe will blow for me, and it's literally terrifying in some ways. Right now a portion of my first novel is in the hands of a very reputable agency in NY, and of course it's my fervent hope that they will choose to represent me. If they decline, I have other options, it won't be the end of the road...but oh, to have representation...

So there's that...and trying to break away from a love who no longer is nurturing to me...

But let me think on your wisdom...and write more tomorrow. Thank you so much.

Ra...how perceptive. I have one novel which is finished (well, except for nearly constant tinkering), and the 2nd is in the planning stages. There's an outline, and some thoughts, but it hasn't gone any further. I feel that I have to put this first one to bed, meaning have a publisher for it, before I can begin work on the 2nd.

I think the vulnerability speaks volumes, as it is very scary to have your work in someone else's hands, wondering if it's worthy. Doesn't matter if your friends loved it, it's the professionals who have to see it as a bankable commodity...ya know? So I definitely feel...vulnerable.

So as always, you are right on the money.

That Mars string needs some updating ... I noticed that some of the photo links have expired ... I'll work on that, one of these days.

Dean, there is something associated with some of the findings that I would love to hear your thoughts on ... I may start a topic in UC about it soon.
