it seems many of my dreams occur on boats or ships....i've had another one, very significant.

again i was on a ship, on the upper levels. i discovered that some people i had known from long ago were coming, staying for a short while, and going, on the lower levels. there also was a group of women who were very independent and constantly going on shore together. they could dance professionally. one of the women, an older asian lady, offered to help me contact the person in the lower level whom i knew. he wasn't there very often.

another person, also from long ago, was making every effort to stop me from making this contact. but the asian lady encouraged me to write, phone, and eventually venture down there.

at first, i missed this person i was seeking. we missed meetings and phone calls. finally, via written letters, we made contact. all of this, around the adamant efforts on the part of the person on the upper level of the ship to prevent this.

during this time, another one of the group of ladies offered to teach me to dance. their dancing was so fluid and precise. it had an ethereal quality.

when finally i met the person on the lower level of the ship my heart was flooded with the utmost light and joy. i felt such a lightness of being, of happiness. when we hugged, i felt it most tactilely -- very real and emotionally. he told me that the reason he kept missing me was that his brother had cancer, and he was donating something, such as blood or marrow, to help him, and that he wanted desperately to continue to help him, although the brother had asked him not to, and this was very painful. his brother wanted him to start living his own life again -- asked him to go to london.

anyway...i suppose, as Ra has mentioned before, that the ship represents my unconscious...

In this case, the unconscious energy/material has to do with an old pattern or old aspect of self (people from long ago) which is still activelt playing a role within your psyche (people on lower levels coming and going). It is suggested that you are somehow preventing yourself from connecting with a 'lost' masculine aspect (person stopping you), and that you need to achieve a certain harmony or rythm, a balance or smoothnes/'fluidness' (learn to dance), in your life or your mind, in order to accomplish the connection. Dancing can be symbolic of the union of masculine and feminine energies.

Once you learn to 'dance', once you learn the required balance/harmony, you will be open to more growth, completion, or expansion of self (finally meet/heart flooded with light and joy).

It could be suggested that something happened in your past in which you 'sacrificed' part of yourself in order to heal or help yourself or another ... you put aside certain masculine aspects of self for some greater purpose, but now it is time for that part of yourself to grow, to "live again".

So, what is this masculine aspect? The dream suggests that it could be something like assertiveness, persistence, aggressiveness, rationale. Any of these traits lacking in your personality?
