Hi..I had a dream about a week ago that seems significant to me. I rarely remember my dreams, but this one was very vivid.

In the dream, I was telepathically "informed" about a healing female vampire (weird, I know). I could then see images or her working out and (over time) slimming down. (maybe this is significant because in the past year I started exercising a lot and lost a lot of weight?). She had dark blonde hair and seemed pretty normal and personable. I couldn't physically tell she was a vampire. She seemed like someone I would be friends with.

Anyhow, I somehow understood that she would help me sleep. (I'm a really bad insomniac). I was somehow "told" that when she looks at you, she heals you. She then appeared near me, turned around, and intensely yet calmly stared at me. I was under the impression that she had possibly "healed" my sleep problems. End of dream.

There was a very calm feeling throughout the dream, and also after I woke up.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.

Could be your inner self healing your problem (she was working out and losing a lto of weight just like you did, so maybe she personified an aspect of you) or perhaps a spiritual healing taking place that just kind of transformed into that dream. See if your insomnia is cured

... but it may yet be. Getting in shape may help to correct some sort of imbalance that contributes to your insomnia.

How long have you been working out?

Hi all, thanks for replying

Been working out for a year, 5-6 days a week. Has helped me in an overall sense,(energy, vitality, mood) but not with my sleep. But I have a chronic illness that contributes to insomnia, so therefore a lot of things that "should" work for sleep..do not. Seeing a new doctor now, so hoping to get it a little more under control.

(In general, what do vampires symbolize in dreams?)

hee hee.. What?

Wow! 5-6 days a week, for a year? Good for you. I'm like one day on, one day off... unless I am feeling really energized...

I looked up Vampires on a dream dictionary site, and this is what it said....

Vampire

To see a vampire in your dream, symbolizes seduction and sensuality, as well as fear and death. The vampire represents contrasting images of civilized nobility and aggression/ferocity. It may depict someone in your waking life whose charm may ultimately prove harmful. Deep down inside you know that this person is bad for you, yet you are still drawn to it. Vampires also sometimes relate to decisions about sex and losing your virginity. Alternatively, to see a vampire suggests that you are feeling physically or emotionally drained. The vampire may also be symbolic for someone who is addicted to drugs or someone in an obsessive relationship.

To dream that you are a vampire, signifies that you are sucking in the life energy of others for your own selfish benefit.

It can also symbolize an insomniac, and the drain that puts on a person.

To dream that you are a vampire, signifies that you are sucking in the life energy of others for your own selfish benefit.

I was leaning towards a combination of these two definitions ... the difficulty is that most "energy vampires" have no idea that this is how they affect others. Gooberzlostlovefound, do you need others to validate you? Do you need others in order to feel more secure?

Hi PixelPixie and Ra,

Aiy aiy aiy!

I really hope I am not an "energy vampire." I have heard that term before, and I certainly hope that is not the case or how people feel about me.

Gah, stop being such a post-vampire.

j/k.

I doubt you are...not that I know, but I don't think it symbolizes that.... It was just a popular interpretation.

Hi Gooberzlostlovefound, hi all!

Gooberzlostlovefound(!), there are a number of things you can do to sleep better. I too suffer from insomnia (use to be worse when I was younger & had more to worry about). Just lately I've become very engrossed in the subject of nutrition. Most people don't realise that we can literally alter how we feel, how well we can concentatre and our vitality levels by what we eat. I was watching an english tv programme yesterday callled 'you are what you eat' where this nutritionist woman helps people with BIG diet problems...it changes their life. Well, last night it showed her helping this bloke and his new diet actually solved his sleep problems!

Basically, not only would we all benefit from 3 regular, balanced meals a day, but we should also try to cut out REFINED carbohydrates, especially sugary foods and drinks (which put you on a constant roller-coaster of highs and lows and cause food cravings....it's also not good for the kidneys because the constant pumping out of insulin causes strain).....white flour, white rice, white pasta- instead we should choose wholegrain foods (wholemeal bread, etc) which release energy into our bodies slowly. We should try and get fresh ingrediants (a good variety of fruit & veg) because all convenience foods are packed full of artificial rubbishy preservatives & flavourings which can cause health problems....and hydrogenated fats which are fats which the body CANNOT use. And caffeine! Chocolate, tea and coffee could definetely cause sleep problems.

I'm sorry if this is boring some of you! I've just learnt how important what we it is to our lives, that's all. I've learnt, from my own experience, that we get get use to different tastes too; that the problem with cravings can be solved. I thought that it could be a possible solution to the problem of insominia.

As for vampires.........

Well, there are different viewpoints of vampires; different meanings for each person. I see vampires (in literature) as a metaphor for desire. And in a way, in this existence, all forms of life feed off each other, like a savage garden (but I hope we can all go beyond that!). When I used to be a goth, I knew people who were into vampires, all for different reasons.

I would say that what your dream meant was simple, not abstract! I would say that the woman probably just represents desire; the desire to be healed....and desired (the weight loss is probably making you feel better, so you may be feeling more confident and able to realise your inner desires more).

That's my theory, anyway!

LOve & Peace

P.S. I'm curious- why the name?

Hi Lost!

I'm not surprised the topic of diet was brought up in relation to insomnia.....I actually happen to be a healthy eating FREAK. (seriously, lol). Thank God for Whole Foods. I am the type that bores everyone to death rambling on and on about the virtues of quinoa, spelt, and kamut(lol), and ah! trying to buy organic foods as much as possible.....and then proceeds to rant about the dangers of overly processed food, sugar, caffeine, chemicals, hormones, etc. etc. I try to spare my friends by not going on about it too much...otherwise I start seeing the "take a chill pill" look in their eyes, lol.

It's good advice, indeed, but I guess what I'm saying is that you're preachin' to the choir.

(But btw I do love discussing nutrition with others who are realy into it! It may not have helped me a lot with sleeping, but it has been wonderful for other areas of my life).

Your dream analysis really resonates with me...I think you hit the nail on the head. It just intuitively "feels" right.

Thanks for your reply,
GLLF

PS: about my name, I dunno, it just came to me!

I like your username a lot, too. I noticed it earlier on the forum and thought it was interesting. Any meaning to it?

Hi GLLF

Glad you didn't mind me rambling on about nutrition! Quinoa is great, isn't it?! I only discovered it recently. Think of heard of spelt- what is that? Kamut?

I like your quote. Who is Thich Nhat Hanh? What did he write? Funny, but his name contains 'Nhatan'- Linda's guru (not him, is it?).

My user name means just what it says. That's exactly how I feel. I tried to think of a way to sum myself up with a few words, and that's what I came up with! I hoped it may attract others who feel the same way. I relate to people easily, but have always felt as if I'm from another planet, deep down. I guess that has to do with being spiritual and sensitive. There's not an waful lot of that in the world, really is there?! If you look for it there is, but overall, to me- it seems we live in a very cruel, selfish world....

I'm sure a lot of other people here feel similar. Linda was very deep, spiritual and sensitive too. That's why she's always fascinated me so much.

LOve & Peace

Your username is perfect, really sums up the feeling of what you said, and trust me, I know what you mean.

It ain't easy bein' sensitive! So many things that go on in this world tear me apart. I can barely watch the news anymore. Too much senseless killing, too much suffering. And I just wonder how so many people seem so unaffected by everything that goes on, like it doesn't bother them a bit, but...ahh well. I'm just rambling.

Oh, Thich Nhat Hanh is a Zen Buddhist monk who has written dozens and dozens of books. He is so wonderful, I highly recommend anything written by him. His books are simple, beautiful...and just get right to the heart of the matter.

Well, hope everyone is having a good night. First night of spring....
