K, just got up an hour ago, so bear with me as I hash this one out.

I was in this big hotel, an old southern mansion from the outside, big pillars, willow trees, vines growing up all over it. Inside it was like a dark panneled 70's style house. All the furniture and home decor was straight out of the 70's... orange, brown, eggshell, that nasty pea green color... and it was like a hotel, but still a house. This is the second dream in which I was in a hotel type situation (although the last one was more of a sleep-away camp type place) and my ex boyfriend was a prominent role in it. There were a ton of people outside on the lawn, playing frisbee, lying on the grass, just hanging around. There was a huge river that ran along and lead out the the ocean to the east. The house pointed south, and the river ran through the front yard. It was a really strange feeling, I was there with some friends that I haven't seen in ages, mostly men, and I was a bit nervous about seeing my ex. I knew he was going to be there with his girlfriend (this is exactly the same thing that happened in the other dream) and was not sure how to act around him. There was something about a dog, too.. his dog.. the one he had when we were dating who has since passed away. He was there. (he was a red toned golden retriver, if that means anything; color seems important in this dream). This kid Brian that I used to know was there talking about this new thing he invented, and everyone I knew seemed to be doing really well with their lives. I did not know most of the people around us besides who I was with. There was a part when I was walking through the hotel/house to change into a bathing suit, there were plants all over the place. It was rather dark and musky inside, with the only light streaming through the blinds in strips onto the floor. When I got outside, I know I was talking to my ex, but I have no idea what we were saying... there was just this really uncomfortable feeling, almost foreboding. Then people started screaming, there was a body floating in the river near where it went out to sea. It was a man's body. Then my ex said ''have you seen Daisy?'' (his gf) and another body surfaced. It was a woman with long black hair, my first thought was that it was a girl from work (a scorpio, like Daisy) it never occured to me it would be her . Then another body floated to the surface. I was frozen, I had no idea what to do. I was totally numb. Everyone around was trying to figure out if it was a killer, or if they had drowned, or if it was a shark. Then the surroundings changed and we were still by a river, but we were in the woods, the NE woods, all the greenery was totally different than that of the southern feel. Then I woke up.

I'm very unclear as to any kind of interpretation. I have a feeling the colors and murkiness of the dream are important, I'm just not sure how.

I'm going to drink some coffee and brainstorm a little, try to remember some more details.

Any thoughts?

Hello Ghanima

Interesting dream. I'll give it some thought as soon as I can. My first, very basic, impression is that we could be dealing with some sort of transitional or temporary aspect/issue in your life which is bringing up some emotional energy. Very vague, I know. You still care for the ex, yes? What is the present situation/relationship between you and he?

Thanks for the quick response, Ra!

Well, we are still friends, although friends who don't speak to each other any more as his new gf is not too fond of he and I being close, and he has some issues with the fact that I am seeing someone new. (BTW, we have been apart for a year and a half now). Anyways, we care for each other very much, he was my first love and a person I went through a lot with. Karmically connected, you might say, with a lot of past life indicators going on in our charts. Certainly someone who speaks to me in dreams very frequently.

This is the weird thing about that dream. All day I have been having this feeling of water, some kind of major thing with water, is going to affect someone I care about. I have been seeing flash flood reports on tv, seeing things about drownings and a possible tsunami after that earthquake in the far east... It's just odd as I dreamed of that last night... just a thought, but I'm feeling rather uneasy and have acutally advised a few friends to stay away from bodies of water today. Maybe I'm being too literal, but I get feelings from dreams sometimes... and this one is really evoking something.

What is your association with the south? Or what do you associate with it?

I'm still putting my thoughts together on your dream, but you have clarified things a great deal. The relationship with your ex is perfectly reflected, so on at least one level we are dealing with issues on a personal level ... all of that water, the river, everything, is probably related to emotions. But your point about a larger connection is well taken, and indeed your river empties into the sea, the ocean, the collective unconscious. So we could say that the connection is there, even symbolically, and that certain aspects of your personal life (as well as many others, I can tell you) are synchronized with larger energies/forces. ... interesting viewpoint.

What do you think?

The more that I think of it, the more emotions do seem to be the major theme. I have recently become involved with someone and there is a tremendous amount of energy between he and I. You might say it was 'love at first sight', that kind of instant attraction and quickly developed feelings for each other. I am forming an idea of the dream, perhaps my feelings for him are 'drowning' the feelings I once had for the ex, or perhaps helping to 'wash away' what once was?

I think we are getting at the same thing, I'm just not very good at communicating my thoughts in a sensible manner. * mumbles something under her breath about an 11th house Mercury in Aquarius *

Ghani~ I didn't read this yesterday....
But I had a nap-dream two days ago where water figured prominently as well.
I didn't think it a big enough deal ( and too disjointedly remembered) to post. I just wanted you to know.. the uneasy feeling was in my dream as well.

In case anyone pays attention to these things, the weather where I am ( and elsewhere, I imagine,) is erratic.... We had snow/rain accumulation like crazy, a nice end of winter storm to bring in the Spring. Well.. Yesterday, I worked nine and a half hours on a flood at work, and again today, continually pumping water from the floor and stock... and trying to discern where it was stemming from... Mercury retrograde indeed..... this has been the most interesting by far in a long while....
So I am tired, but a niche filler, and so I worked and worked and worked....... anyway.
My world has literally been filled with water this week. I don't think I even edge the prophetic, but it sure was neat to think.....

Ghani, I apologize! I didn't realize it had been so long. I have let a lot slide here lately and need to do some catching up, obviously. I'll be back as soon as I can.

Thank you for being so patient.

There are still a couple of things I don't quite understand, like the southern setting, but most of it makes sense. Since you already have an idea as to what the dream means I'm going to try and be brief.

This dream is about outdated thoughts/patterns (70s style) concerning your ex, which are in the midst of transitioning (hotel), changing. There is a flowing of emotions, moving away from you and back into the Source (river leads to ocean). That which existed between you and the ex is "dead" (dead bodies), the emotional connection is loosing life (not necessarily the spiritual connection!). 3 bodies ... three is a number of change, of transformation, and also of completion. The golden retriever has passed, has transformed, the same as the relationship. Alchemically, red and gold represent the final stage of transformation. So, in a nutshell, the dream suggests that you have nearly completed an inner transformation concerning this relationship, especially on an emotional level.

Make sense?

Seems spot on to me!

Certainly a dream that I knew was important in waking life. Realizing that I am almost over that chapter of my life is the first step to actually being over it. I guess it is a little sad, but also like being reborn into a new me... a more mature and self-aware me. How exciting!!

I'm not sure what the southern connection is either... I'll have to think about it a little more.

Thanks a ton, Ra!!

Ah, a re-birth, that is perfect. All of the river symbols point to it ... The river flows East, symbolizing the beginning, the new. The Ocean is an archetype for the Great Womb, and the river is a birth canal, delivering death (bodies) into life (ocean).
