Things that are foreign to you. Example. Normally you can't do something because you don't have the skill or knowledge. But you have a dream you are performing that skill perfectly. I had a dream once that I was a mechanic fixing an engine. The dream had a 70's feel to it, and I was already born. I knew all the part names, their functions, and I knew what I was doing. It was so real and I discussed this with my hubby, giving him details of the workings of an engine. He agreed it made sense. I only saw the inside of a hood a few times!
In the dream I was a male, with jeans and a plaid shirt. Nothing spectacular.
Are these perhaps pastlife dreams? I was shocked at how vivid and accurate it was.
A few times I woke up speaking what seemed to be a foreign language, don't know what it was though. I didn't know what the words meant. Hmmmmmm.

Yes phil,I would say its entirley possible that was a past life glimpse.
Also the ones with a foreign language.
Many years ago I had a dream I was speaking french fluently(dont know french at all) and I was performing a tarot card reading with cards made of...hmmm almost like painted hard paper.Cloth like.I woke up an knew that was me centuries ago. However I should ad I have no love of french anything except fries.LOL
I recently found out from my Aunts how french we actually are and it reminded me of that long ago dream.
The only thing about your dream in the 70's that makes me question it, is the fact it was so so recent. Its is more common to have many years inbetween incarnations.
I can argue that now it might be different because there is a large influx of souls desperate to incarnate and balance there karma (or just help out during hard times here on earth) before the last and final battle.
So interesting huh????

I was curious because I was born in 1963, before the time in my dream.

Philbird!
Could it have been in the Beatnick 50s and not the Hippie 60/70s ? The flannel shirt fits those times. So do the jeans. If so, then I'd venture to say, past life. Or were you picking up on someone else, reading them?
I too have spoken languages other than English(the only one I know) in my sleep/or dreams. When I have recorded or written down what I said...or a witness did this..the other languages always translate into actually saying something, not just gibberish.PS.the battle is over-it happened behind the scenes. No end of the world, only changes. Nuf said.

I have heard (seen?) Ra talk about multiple lives, seemingly co-existing in the same timeframe, as time is relevent, and the past life could have occured at the same time as your current life.

*head explodes*

So, neat.
There's also that collective unconscious thing.. or getting a glimpse into someone else's life, feeling as if you are that person.
Whatever the origins, it is still intensely amazing to be a part of something that opens your world experience even a fraction.
This moving force, this incredible way we are all connected.

Pixie, you absolutely read my mind ... your thoughts are mine.

First, there is the symbolic perspective ... a representation of "foreign", unrecognized, or unacknowledged aspects of self.

Then there is the collective unconscious view, in which we experience something of another.

There is also the OBE or Astral view, very simiar to the collective unconscious view actually. Could have been the way you remembered a projection experience.

Then of course there is the "past"-life view. Perhaps a bit of recollection from a concurrent, or overlapping life.

When two lives share some of the same time, the same years. Let's say these two past lives were yours ... 1800-1850 and 1835-1890 ... different bodies. See what I mean?

I know a lot of people don't really agree with that, but time is relative, so why not? There's nothing that says it is not possible, and plenty that suggests it is. Plus, it involves time, mind, and soul, so I am willing to consider just about anything.

I understand, I have read of this before. It is a hard concept to grasp. There are many more Philbirds out there. Are these "soul unions" when we experience profound recollections? I need to do more reading on quantum physics!
Now, in psychology there is a term called dissassociation. When you "go through the motions" but do not have a recollection of that time period. I call this losing time. Could this be the experience of living in a parallel univcerse, wether you are dreaming or not? (MPD is another issue and more serious, so I won't go there.) I am noticing that there are a lot of terminologies used in psychiatry that are similar to experiences that are expressed here.

I have a theory that people who experience full blown schizophranic episodes are really experiencing the collective unconscious speaking to them. Hence, the profound details of things they never experienced. Unfortunatly, they can't turn it off, and need to be protected.

actually, I really like pickles
so it's like Pickle pickle
I'm pretty picky too....

You said pick and choose.. maybe you meant 'pickled goose'
you are a bird, I am a pickle..
there is your interp right there!

then there's Ra...
you don't really cook pickles... you probably shouldn't cook birds ( unless you want a boiled bird )
So it's a raw pickled goose.
and merratti and fayte m~
so...

me raw too fade my raw pickled goose
that's the answer.

A little personal help here for ya pix.
Tips on passing a psyche evaluation. (if someone is trying to check you in to the spin bin.")

When a psychiatrist asks you if the glass is half full or half empty say, "It depends on how thirsty you are." And have the word world memorized backwards cause they'll ask you to spell it that way.
Always keep in mind there is a vice- president and know his name.
Know your name!
Memorize these words. Car, house, shirt, bat, and airplane. They will ask you to recall them later after trying to distract you from remembering them.
Never mention "astral travel!"
Know the date and year.
And lastly my dear wear matching shoes!
