Our six year old son has had the same dream a few times over the past few weeks and that is that I (his mummy) becomes very big and fat (his words). Now in real life I wouldnt be what you would call skinny, but then again I am not huge - what does anyone think this means - love to all xxxxx

Sue g...does he ever hear you talk about dieting or wanting to lose weight? If so, then perhaps he is afraid you will get fat and has heard you speak against it. Or has he heard anyone else say negative things about fat people? On television or from playmates for example? Or could it be precog?
Kids can often see more clearly than adults. Also what does he consider to be fat? Chubby, pleasantly plump, Rubenisque, or Gargantuan? Does fat scare him, or is it just a matter of fact to him?

Hi Fayte, thanks for your response. I would so not talk about losing weight in front of him - he seems obsessed with fat people (in a negative way, which worries me). I have told him from an early age that it doesnt matter what we are like on the outside, but he seems very concsious of "image" at such an early age too. Both his Dad and I arent particularly slim, eat well and are not fatist, so the answer is I think it is stuff he came in wth - isnt it amazing what we remember? Love to you xx

It is his obsession with the fat issue in a negative way that I think should be discussed with him. But let HIM tell YOU why it bothers him. Again it might sound strange.

Maybe some rich fat people in that time let him and his friends starve.

I think kids are funny!
One day My washing machine broke down and I didn't have my usual dark wardrobe to wear to the store etc. Well at home I wear red etc. At that time I was VERY fat. Steroids and an accident.....well I put on my RED sweats and a RED stocking cap that had on it in big WHITE letters, "I believe in elves!". Well the next thing I know is that I hear these utterly delighted screams! (it was December 22), and these two little kids were just all twitterpated..."ARE YOU MRS. SANTA CLAUS!!!!????? I said, "do you think I am?"
Of course the parents came over to see what had happened. They apolgized and I said no problem. The kids were still of the mind that was who I was. So I went and bought two little Xmas bears each holding a Candy Cane, and waited outside. When they came out, I asked the parents if I could give the children the gifts. They looked stunned and without a word shook their heads..YES. So I got down on my knees and beckoned to the kids. I whispered in each of their ears that I'm just a fat lady who believes in the spirit of Xmas, and to be good kids, and have a Merry Christmas! As they both hugged me and walked away, I heard the older one say to her parents, that was a nice fat lady. Then the younger one said, I think she was an angel!
That was soooo weird! And wonderful! I had been feeling like a giant red dressed monster! Hobbling about dressed like that with my big wooden cane. I was happy for the rest of the day!

PS. I think my wire rimmed eyeglasses probably added to the effect.

Thanks!
I do not go out in public dressed like that anymore! Those kids made my day, but I generally do not wear bright things publicaly, maybe a sweater, but not the whole shebang. I was very depressed that day. I was thinking very un Christmas thoughts, bah humbugging through my day as the majority of adults glared at me, with my enormous red clad body.
Those kids made a fat person feel the Holiday spirit and I lost my bad humbug attack. It was weirdly wonderful!

*sigh*

Kids have a way of stripping the layers of living off, and being in the moment....
I love them for that.
