I have really weird dreams all of the time. This one I had last night. Here goes.

Ok I'm in a room, sort of like my living room, but different. I discover that there is a kind of a portal thingy to this weird place like an old European castle. It's like you close your eyes, let yourself go, and walk through the wall...Voila! You are there. I had a dream like that once about the old west being in the drier, lol .
Then everyone starts to do it. They all have different places they can get to. There is one that I am totally baffled about. Some can get into it and some can't. It's called "The Wars", or "The Blood Wars", or something like that. I imagine it as like this scary battle feild place. I try to get into it, but I only go like half way. It's hard to get to, and it scares me, but I there was something about it that surprised me. That it was this grey looking room at first sight. I ask my grandmother if my friend has gone there yet. She says that if he hasn't he will. It's like this place where only people who special in some way, like spiritually advanced, or something can get to. I have been having dreams about this friend for like three days in a row, which is very strange, because he moved away like a month ago.
Anyway, at the end it all seems that it was all a fantasy, or a dream, and none of it was real, but I had this feeling that it was, and we were just trying to forget about it.

Ok, I would appreciate any input, but if you didn't understand a word of it, that's fine too. I'm sure it makes no sense.

Hello Battle of Evermore

I'm sure we can make some kind of sense out of it, maybe. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks for sharing this very interesting dream.

Battle of Evermore, I found this dream fascinating. This, to me, sounds more like a Robert Monroe-type of astral experience rather than merely a dream, from beginning to end.

You describe your surroundings very much in the manner of some who astrally project. For instance OBErs (Out of Body Experience-ers) often describe a room they know well as "different". For some reason, objects in a room can take on a different appearance in the astral realm ... an interesting phenomenon. I remember one OBEr who noticed that some of his lamps were different in the astral state - they were in the same positions, but of another era, a different style.

Another curious element in your "dream" are the "portal thingys". Again, I've heard this before. It seems that there are portals to parallel worlds and other time periods all over the place, accessible in the OBE state, and they seem to be connected to the experiencer personally in some way. They are often described as being "through walls" or behind certain doors. This leads us into the next "dream" situation, "The Wars" place.

I am not going to be able to fully explain this, but there are certain astral "places" where it is difficult for an individual to go, this because there is something in those "places" (or times) for the individual to overcome, recognize, heal, or otherwise learn from. Often this is related to some past-life situation or issue. Indeed, one must be "special in some way, like spiritually advanced, or something ..." in order to enter these places consciously. I would say it has more to do with awareness than being "advanced" or anything like that. At any rate, this place, "The Wars", is hard to get to, and scares you, because it could relate to some traumatic past-life event that your dream consciousness is trying to work out, and it would make sense if your friend was somehow involved.

Even your last statement sounds like a description of an OBE not fully realized ... "at the end it all seems that it was all a fantasy, or a dream, and none of it was real, but I had this feeling that it was, and we were just trying to forget about it."

What do you think? Does any of this feel possible to you?

Wow Ra, wasn't expecting that...
I really do think I almost did it once, an OBE that is. I was trying to though.
I have dreams about places I've been that have the same structural shape, and everything, but have minor differences in furniture, and positions of furniture, very often.

The weird thing about the part where I said that an old European castle was behind the wall, is that I've had that dream before, and the portal to it was in the same place as it was this time. I remember a staircase, and a suit of armour too I think. Being on a stairway looking down for sure.

The wars part...Well I just know I must have known that particular friend before. It's just impossible to deny for me.
That part did seem to scare me. I remember cannons. I knew I had to go, but was prolonging it.

That last bit I said, about thinking it was real, I meant at the end of the dream, right before it was over, not after I woke up. I didn't know if I made that part clear.

I've always wanted to go to a hypnotist for past life regressions.
I'll study up on OBE-s.

Thank you Ra!

One name ... Robert A. Monroe. He has a trilogy, and they are excellent. It's not a "how to" series, it's his experience.

Your "dream" experience was different because you were not consciously aware of, or controlling, the experience. I would venture to say that many of us experience this quite often, we just don't remember it, or we think it was a dream. Maybe yours was just a dream, but it sure seems to me to have many of the elements of an OBE, and that was my first reaction, first thought. Fascinating stuff.

Have fun!

Thanks so much Ra!
Don't know if it was an OBE, or not, but now it makes me want to get back into trying it.

Robert A. Monroe... Got it!
