Im being nosy here so if you don't want to analyze its ok. I feel my husb does not tell me the extent of his family's disfunction but Im not sure. He said he dreamed this a lot in childhood. He would be walking down the stairs in his house to the basement. The basement is full of water. The water is black. He goes to jump in and he starts flying.

Hello thirteen I don't know about dysfunction, but your husband's dream does indicate "dark"/difficult emotional stuff. The basement represents the subconscious, where we store all of our repressed emotional junk. Water represents emotions. Black is black ... dark, difficult, secret, or otherwise hidden. So what we have is difficult (black), repressed (basement) emotional material (water) which he feared being overwhelmed by (jump in) and desired to escape (flying). How does that sound? IP: Logged |

I think that says it all. My husbs family is the type that must keep up appearances however as I get to know them I see lots of emotional crap. He has illuded to difficulties growing up with them but never much detail. Im sure he wanted to escape them as I want to escape them everytime i am around them. Your interpretation is right on.
