This morning I woke up fro your average dream and I was laying in bed with my eyes open, kind of looking at the ceiling. All of a sudden, I heard a whisper so I mumbled "hmm?" because I thought it was the Cappy lying next to me. He didn't respond and then I heard it again. Same thing, he wasn't moving or answering me. So, my eyes are still open and my ears are straining to catch the words of the whisper, but then I realize that I can't move and I start to feel like I can't breathe either. This buzzing starts up and I feel like the buzzing is holding me down. I'm looking at the same spot opn the ceiling and trying to talk to wake up the Cappy (I've realized he is sleeping) but whenever I try to speak, I can't. I panic a little and try to yell, but all that comes out is a sqeak. I'm trying to move my arms to wake the Cappy, but I'm paralyzed and the buzzing is getting louder and the whisper is repeating something I can't hear. I'm trying and trying to scream or move or something and I end up making a series of sqeaks which wakes the Cappy. He rolls over and says "If you're going to throw-up go in the bathroom" and then suddenly I can move and talk and I'm panting trying to tell him what happened. He tells me I'm crazy and laughs at me. I don't know what the heck happened but I felt aware the whole time and it was scary!!! I thought I might have been dreaming with my eyes open (that happens to me some times as I'm waking up) but it was soooo freakin weird! Has this happened to anyone or any ideas??? IP: Logged |

Try not to freak out too bad, what you describe has happened to many, so you're not crazy. You happened to be aware at a time in the waking process in which we are not unsually aware ... your mind woke up before your body did. We've talked about this before around here. I'll see if I can find the strings. You'll see that you are not alone or crazy. Gotta go! IP: Logged |

Zoso, search this forum, using the search function, for "sleep paralysis" or "dream paralysis" and I think you'll find some good stuff. IP: Logged |

No you are not crazy!! This has happened to me with a few variations and only breaks when I make a great effort to say a saving mantra or to make a sign of protection- maybe like "finding your hands" in a scary dream so you can exit...I could not speak or move either but struggled through finally as I said and tho I have had weird experiences I have not had this type of "paralysis" again. Hi zoso, You're experience sounds scary... But I smiled about your Cappys response to you about throwing up in the bathroom..I say the exact same thing! It annoys my mum cause she thinks I am insensitive and unemotional. I cannot handle it when someone is being sick..i insist that they do it in the bathroom! I have a Cap Asc by the way..maybe its a cappy trait?Sparkling IP: Logged |

Thought I'd chime in about the ;throwing up' bathroom Capricorn thing. I have a Cappy Moon. Sixth house. Not that I adore vomit, but I am all about taking care of the vomit-er, no matter where it is.... Maybe it's different with kids than boyfriends though.. ( even still, I am a back patter/comforter "Oh, my poor sweetie" type of person.*But then the sixth house is 'service'....) My daughter spent Last Christmes on my lap, throwing up all over my dry clean only jacket.. my only concern was for her sick Christmas. I still feel bad about that, she's such a trooper. Now.. the "I still feel bad about that" ... THAT is a Capricorn thing. The sleep paralysis.. I bet if you randomly brought it up, a few people in the room would say they'd experienced it as well. It is one of those borderline paranormal things that not everyone readily admits to. Like anal probes. *C'mon, admit it* Just kidding. I do prefer the scientific/physiological explanation myself.. and I have also experienced it a few times. It bit. Big time. So scary, to have awareness but no control. (Thinks of that Metallica song) *Headbangs* (Thinks of those people who said they'd experienced surgery with full awareness, but paralysis.) *shudders* IP: Logged |

Ahh, pixlepixie!! Anal probes LOL!!The thing about the "go throw up in the bathroom" is from the Cappy's many times of listening to me makes strange squeaks and moans when I get sick. He hates it when I'm icky, although he can't say much because I witnessed the strange spot on the back of his pants when he tried to sneak off to the bathroom once. I'm a Sag: I said (loudly) "What's on your pants?!" and he ran out the door!! There is a word for that and I think it's called "sharted"...hehehehehe Take THAT, Cappy! IP: Logged |
