Last night I had a most disturbing and uncomfortable dream. It was about terrorism.

There was a rumour going around that an act of terrorism had just occurred. But no one was sure about what had actually happened. Everyone was in a frenzy. So we switched on to the news, but there was nothing mentioned about anything of terrorism. So we waited and waited. Eventually there were reports of an airplane been shot down. All of a sudden, there were pictures of an airplane, in the air, been shot down by four missiles. You could see the four missiles hitting the plane.Clearly it was an act of terrorism. It was there been played out by the news.

I hope this isn't a prophetic dream!

What do you guys think of this? Also, what does an airplane generally mean, and the number four?

I'm thinking this is a personal dream, not prophetic (I hope!), mostly because of the number four. I could be wrong, of course, but since I cannot validate a prophesy, I must look at the symbolic possibilities. Jung seemed to believe that the number four was a particular indicator that a dream was of a personal nature. What does your dream book say about "four"? And do you have any particular associations with it? I mean, do you think of some specific quality when you think of four? (like fate, foundations, family, etc.)

Oh, and what does the book say about airplanes? Does any of it seems to fit?

Well, I looked in my dreambook but I am still confused as ever.

The book says that a plane represents sudden life changes. It can also mean a move towards independent being.

The number four means a secure and sheltered home is yours for the asking.
The qualities associated with it are: Loyalty, stolidity, practicality, honesty. Clumsiness, dullness, conservatism, unadaptability.

I have no particular association with four.

Any thoughts?

How about this ...

Often an airplane and it's activity reflect one's professional life, and this could be the meaning here. I mentioned what Jung felt, and the number four also has to do with foundations and boundaries, and one's development along those lines. It can also indicate the beginning of a new creative cycle.

So, from this perspective, your dream could suggest feelings of uncertainty and of being "shot down" professionally for reasons concerning the exploration and development of your personal foundations and boundaries. The death throes of the old cycle could be a precursor to a phase of new creativity or accomplishment.

How does that sound?

By saying professional life, do you mean work?
I can't see how that can be, as I have mentioned in this forum that I have recently left my job.

Yes, you left your job (plane shot down), you feel uncertain about what you are doing or what will happen, but you could not remain where you were because you would not have felt free. You would not settle for a situation that was at odds with, or restricted, your personal boundaries/foundations ... in other words, it is kind of like your personal ideals (4 missles) would not allow you (shot down) to keep that job (plane).

Is that a bad thing? I don't think so, not unless your ideals need to be re-evaluated.

Make any sense now?
