I had this dream about a year ago, shook me up. I was wondering if any of you had insights about it...

I was looking down a long hallway with doors on both sides and one at the end, plain white doors. The hallway had a red carpet. As I walked towards the end of the hall, I went into each door as I passed it and looked around inside. There weren't any rooms, but each door opened to an arena with enormous pillars and crumbling marble architecture. The wind was howling through the arena, and there was debris on the floor, like old candy wrappers. There were a few torn, old movie posters on the walls. Beyond each arena I could see a river and a cloudy red sky. There were corpses and skeletons on the ground beyond the arenas, which was covered in thick green grass. Behind one of the doors, for some reason, there was a karate instructor who taught me a few moves. I felt extremely lonely and sad, since no one was in the dream. Behind the last door at the end of the hallway, was an arena much larger than those before. It was very deep and high, almost like a chasm. It had stairs that seemed to go down forever. I went down them, and climbed down the walls where they had crumbled. At the bottom there was nothing but broken shards of limestone and marble. All of a sudden, enormous snakes started to slither out of the rubble, but I couldn't see any of their heads, just the bodies. I wasn't scared, but I calmly stood there, watching as the mass of snakes built up and suffocated me. Then I woke up sweating.

There was another dream I had a few years ago, in which I felt extreme hopelessness. There was a diving board and a lineup of elderly people behind it. They had blank expressions on their faces and looked weathered and tired. No emotion on their face, they walked with their face towards the ground. A security officer was at the end of the board, ushering them to walk off the board. This took place in an extremely high room, looking down all I could see was blackness because it was so high, but it was only about as wide as an average small room. The walls were a dull faded yellow and there was a dingy shoplight hanging above the board. Their faces were emotionless as they fell down the well-like room, until they hit the bottom and died, which had the corpses of these people littered all over the floor. I wasn't in a body, I was just sorta floating around as I pleased, watching this happen. The room didn't have any windows or doors, just the shoplight to keep it lit-no one could get in or out. No one made any noise, it was errie. All I could hear was the shoplight flickering and swinging back and forth and the people hitting the ground. Somehow I knew these people had no choice, they were forced to die like this. Reading Sylvia Browne's Book of Dreams, she narrates one she had of a crowd of people shuffling around in a gray area. My dream reminds me of her's in several ways. I think this dream is a release dream however, since it did not flow logically.

I tend to have macabre and disturbing dreams, and in all honesty they don't bother me too much but these two didn't feel quite right.

Welcome oddball

I've got a few thoughts brewing in my head, just let me percolate a bit more ... back later.

... that last dream from a few years ago ... you must have been having a particularly hard time with life at that time. What was going on?

In the dream from a few years ago, it sounds like you astrally visited one of those in-between places that some souls find themselves in. The vibration of that place is probably similar to your own vibration at that time, which is why you ended up there.

The dream from a year ago ...

To make sense of it, you must recall what you were going through at the time.

Without getting into too much detail, the dream suggests that you were in the midst of transition (hallway). In fact, many of the symbols repeat the transition/transformation theme - the hallway, the colour red, and snakes. All of these can have that meaning.

To go along with that, other symbols suggest that you were in the process of changing old patterns, old ways of life, old "arenas" of activity (crumbling architecture/debris/old wrappers/old posters/corpses and skeletons). And the reason for the karate instructor? To learn defenses against the old patterns, to re-activate the mind-body connection, to learn the proper discipline.

In the end it seems that you allowed yourself to reach the "bottom", you reached the lowest of lows, you gave in to whatever the Universe was dishing out, and then ... transformation (engulfed by snakes).

Does any of this ring true?

Walk in Peace

Actually that DOES make a lot of sense. Everything you said actually . Thanks Ra. I think an ability to analyze dreams and not overlook them can really help us, but I'm still a novice in this area. But now after waking up I always spend about 10 minutes to analyze whatever goes on in my dreams and recurring archetypes.

I'm glad that made sense.

Reviewing your dreams as you are doing is a great thing to do. You can only benefit from it.
