I had a dream this afternoon that startled me. My grandmother that raised me from when I was a baby died a couple of weeks ago. In the dream, I was coming out of some sort of performance, and in the lobby of the theatre/whatever, there were what looked like Roman Catholic priests and possibly the pope having a mass ritual for my grandmother, who was lying covered with an off-white cloth, and I could see her hands, and her nails which were always covered in pink/red nailpolish. Then my grandmother's head abruptly moved and she started chanting irrelevant things, although her eyes looked completely dead. In the dream I was told that this was what happened when people died, that their bodies went into weird spasms or something of the sort, and I remember thinking it made sense and making some sort of connection to lizard tails that still move when cut off from the body.

Don't really know what to make of it.

Hello Everlong

Sounds like a reflection of your mind just trying to understand and make sense of death, and life. The connection with the lizard could suggest a regeneration/rebirth theme as well. Was your grandmother's health in some sort of prolonged degenerative condition?

I'm sorry for your loss. Perhaps she will visit you soon in your dreams, and you can tell us how wonderful it was to see her.

Yes, it was a degenerative condition. She had Alzheimer's for about a year or two.

Thank you Ra, that does make sense.

Ah, yes. Everlong, I'm not sure how comfortable you are talking about your grandmother right now, so let me know if I should continue or not. I have some more thoughts about the dream.

It's all right Ra, I'm comfortable enough to hear about what else you think about the dream.

Thank you pixelpixie .

Do you think it is possible for a soul to withdraw from the body, disconnecting itself, while the body still retains some activity?

Hmm. I think I know what the dream might have been about now. When my grandmother was in ICU, there were frequently moments when she would twitch and move restlessly even though she was completely unconscious. Maybe it was just a recollection of that? A mixture of memories assorted from my brain?

I do think it's possible, though.
