Hello all, just joined this site a little while ago and just realized there was a dream section! This comes just in time, I have been having vivid dreams which are occuring more than usual(I might be lucky to remeber 1/week..I've had about 5 this week). I do not have a lot of experience with dream interpretations, I'm in love with astrology though =p
Here is a blub about my life right now: I'm about to graduate from university, trying to find a career/job or decide if I want to keep studying. I have a bunch of roomates and one of them I do not get along with at all(I avoid her as much as possible in the house). These are the 2 major themes right now and I wonder if they are influenced by the following dreams? (only 2 of them lol). I've done a bit of research on the web but some say very different things, hoping someone can help out!

1.) I was at a school setting with a group of people. We were sitting on the floor playing cards in one of the classrooms(however I did not see what cards they were). I had this feeling that there was something going on outside, something really bad(thats why we were in the room). I left the room with someone (don't know why we left)and I put on my shoes before I left the room. We walked down the hall and a man approached us. Then I was trying to get away from him(I may have seen a gun, dont know) but he shot me in the leg and I fell and now I'm trying to crawl away. Then he shot me in the head and I woke my self up by pounding on the wall(wall next to my bed).

2.) In a hotel/apartment complext on 5th floor. Got into the elevator with someone, going down to first floor. Get out of the elevator(before the doors almost close on me while getting out). I was going to leave the building until a police officer comes to me and says to stay inside the building becuase a criminal was trying to get inside. When I looked out the window, I see this dude running towards the building but then he is shot by the group of police officers outside and it is quite graphic as well. Like something out of a movie hostage scene!

There's my long-winded story. Even if you have no idea I hope it was a fun read.
Cheers

Hello Gem-Sag, and welcome

These dreams do seem to symbolize certain anxieties you may have about what is "in the cards" for you as you make decisions during this transitioning (hotel/apartment) period in your life. I'll give you more details on these thoughts as soon as I can.

Thanks Ra,
I'm excited to see what you think!

p.s. I also have had two other dreams recently where I have tears in my eyes when I woke up from an emotional situation in the dream(one was from my ex, he died and I was at the funeral, and the other was about a cute little bird flying away from my hand).....maybe they might have something to do with the shooting dreams??Dunno, maybe we will have to start one at a time here

Cheers

The first dream reflects your anxieties about what's "in the cards" for you, anxiety about life outside of school (something bad happening outside). It suggests that you may be anxious about your ability to move through life, or to maintain your "standing" or balance (shot in leg), as well as fear that you may not be mentally/intellectually prepared (shot in head).

The second dream is nearly identical in meaning. It suggests that you are in a state of transition/change (hotel/apartment), and that as you "come down to the real world" (elevator down), you feel anxious about the perceived dangers that lurk "out there".

What do you think?

Hey Ra,
Thanks for your insight, it's appreciated.

I think you have a pretty good stab at it. I do feel that the "outside" is uncertain...and it is not becuase I have been lazy with myself and what I want to do with school/career/etc, but it seems that it is dependent upon if other schools or emplyers will accept me. It really depends on what these people decide (outside) which will help me decide on what I will do.
I just had another thought about it, I had this compulsion to go outside and investigate the building in my dream. I think this might line up with moving out of my house now and going out to see whats out there.

I have an unrelated question - when an individual dreams much more than usual (like I have been recently), is it a sign or insecurities or change in the persons life? or would it be case specific on why they are dreaming more?

Thanks for the help,

Hello Gem-Sag

Well, I suppose there are any number of reasons a person would dream (or remember dreams) more often than usual ... life changes, environment, stress (or lack of it, depending on the person), foods, medications, various cycles (ie lunar, planetary, weather, etc), geographical change, desire, ad infinitum.

In your case it looks like it could be due to change, and anxiety. Wouldn't you say?
